Hard Drive I have a emachine t1840 the hard drive is faulty it started with a clicking noise from the hard drive.Can i replace it with a larger capacity hard drive.

the clicking noise is the reader arm jumping across platters on your hard drive you have a dirty hard drive first clean all the dust from your computer specifically from around your hard drive using a high powered suction vacuum cleaner or a fine air blower from a air compressor making sure there is no moisture in the air lines then give the hard drive a firm tap on the side to free up the reader arm
also you might test the electical leads that are attached to your hard drive make sure they are securely seated and they are not faulty

You need to get hold of a boot CD - BartPE is great for this. Put the hard drive in another computer, and you'll find it more than likely blue screens, as the Drive Controller Drivers don't match the motherboard. Run a program called FIX-IDE, reboot, and it should at least boot. You might find that all sorts of other bits don't work though, but your apps should. Download the drivers for the new board and you should be off and away.

Hard Drive Clicking = Going Towards End Of Life

Put the hard drive in a working pc and get any important data off it , its about to die!!!!!!!

Get a new hard drive and do a windows reinstall (not like you have a choice)

Sure you can SMPS might have dead. or there many other reasons.
90% is with the SMPS problem.
please replace it.,
