this fan needs to run when the compressor runs, check fan blade for being jammed by ice if you have this much ice on back wall as ice will stall motor,if no fan there will be no cool air to refrige compartment also the defrost drain tray will fill with water then freeze over which in turn floods the freezer floor and refrige compartments cause it cannot drain to the pan in the bottom
Sounds like a defrost failure. Look on the back wall of the freezer from the inside. If it is covered in ice your defrost system has failed. Also check the fan motor in the freezer. If it is not running it must be replaced.

The water line to the icemaker has probably frozen,so no ice. The cooling coils are in the freezer, and the cold air moves to the fridge via vents and circulation fan.
When it all ices up, no air gets to fridge, fridge gets warm.
Many models have a mechanical defroster timer located under the lower front kick panel. Manually rotate the timer until you hear the compressor stop.
Defroster heater then should come on and you hear scorch/hiss/gurgle of defrost sounds. If the timer is working, the fridge should come back on after about a half hour or so.
Sometimes timer fails, sometimes heater element fails. There is also a defrost thermostat that's part of the heater assembly.
Check to make sure the evap fan is running. IF so, then let unit defrost, then turn back on, check for air comming thru top of refrig vent, if air moving ok, then let run for a few days and see if refrig warms again, if so then check for frost build up on back wall of inside freezer, if so, you have a defrost problem. With a defrost problem, defrost heater may be bad, defrost timer/electronic control may be defective. Either way, in most cases it is a defrost problem unless you don't have air moving and fan is running in this case you have a damper door problem inside air duct in refrig.
Really need to know what motor(s) are running (compressor, evap fan inside freezer compartment, condenser fan under fridge)?? Of course, check your temperature (thermostat) settings. Side-by-sides usually have 2 of them. They should be labled for refridgerator and freezer. The freezer control usually only opens a baffle from the freezer compartment to the refridge compartment. The refrigerator temp control is the one that controls the compressor on-off cycles and the temp of refrig compartment (this keeps the refrig compartment from freezing the milk and cokes) If the freezer control/baffle is set too far open, this will cause the refrig temp control to shut off too soon for the freezer temp to get low enough. These controls can get bumped out of the correct setting accidently from time to time. To check the following, the fridge has to be running, or in a condition where it "should be" running: If compressor is running (condenser fan should be too), check if evaporator fan (inside freezer) is running. Open (freezer) door and hold door light switch in when you check evaporator fan operation (some fans stop when door is open) If it is not running you may have a bad evaporator fan motor. It could also be a bad defrost timer, causing the evaporator (also inside back of freezer) to ice-up. This blocks the air flow over evap. Also, there is a defrost terminator switch on the evaporator coil that stops the defrost cycle when coil is clear of ice/frost (but timer hasn't ended defrost cycle). If it is defective, that could also keep the fridge from going into the defrost cycle, or taking it out too soon. If it is the timer, change the defrost terminator as well. Depending on how handy you are, you may be able to check/change any of these parts yourself. If you don't know much about elecrical stuff, you should leave it to a repair tech. Hope this helps.
Remove back wall cover from freezer compartment. Should have a nice even frost pattern. If large amount off ice buildup is on evaporater than air can not flow through entire unit correctly. This means that unit is not defrosting properly. Check continuity on defrost heater, if good replace defrost thermostat, located as a clipped on device at top of evaporater.
Yes your refrig is not defrosting automatically. You can start by removing the shelves in the freezer than removing the rear panel (the panel that is frosted half way). Use hair dryer to defrost ice from coil. This will restore your refrig temporarily. Your refrig has a pretty advance defrost system and is not easy to test. If you have a meter (volt-ohmmeter) i can help with diagnosis.
I know where the heater is where's the timer ?????
