As I turn on the projector and the white Optoma logo normally pops up on a black background. Instead what happens is it goes to a white grid and no matter what I do it just shows the white grid. I tried cleaning out all the dust but that didn?t help at all.
HI i had the same problem with my Optoma showing the white grid when turned on, and it is not a problem of the lamp not being good good. Sounds odd, but i removed the lamp. then dropped the projector against a hard surface from say 10 inches from floor, tehen a hard tap on the side, then inserted the lamp back in, turned on the darn thing, and it showed the Optoma logo alright, with 2 vertical stripes, then i removed the lamp again, repeated procedure, and by this time the lines wer gone and i got the projector to work again, including all push buttons on panel (this wasn´t possible when i had that problem. It really worked for me. At least you can try it.
Have you tried a new lamp?
My EP719 had the same problem. Did it once, briefly, soon after I bought it, then not again until recently, when the line came back more frequently and wider.
The projector was 20 days past warranty, and the company would not honor. So much for customer satisfaction and loyalty. Last piece of Optoma equipment I will ever buy!
Anyway, I found a web item on another model of Optoma projector with the same problem. The solution this guy tried was -- I kid you not -- rapping on the thing. With nothing to lose, I tried this on mine. Tapped lightly on the top and noticed a change in the width of the line. Hmmm ... it was sensitive to this.
Tapped harder. The line got narrower. Rapped pretty hard -- thump! -- and the line disappeared.
Since then I have been running the projector for hours, turning it on and off, letting it cool down, starting it up again. And the line seems to be gone. It may come back, of course, so this gonzo fix may not be permament. But if it works while I'm using it at a presentation, think of the amusement it will cause!
