Is your brush roller turning, that would cause it to be hard to push .the brush roller helps it walk across the floor.if your brush roller isn't turning then your belt is broke or the brush itself siezed up.unplug the vacuum and try to turn the brush roller .if it turns real free then your belt is broke.before you replace the belt always clean the motor shaft ,the old rubber from the old belt melts onto the motor shaft .if you don't clean it your new belt won't last very long.please leave feedback

Our DC41 is impossible to push on carpet. Is there an adjustment to do? Almost like there is too much suction.

See if the following information can help.

CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS

• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the

appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.

• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.

• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):

- switch the appliance 'ON'

- recline the appliance

- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.

• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -

clearing obstructions'.

• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's

recommended cleaning instructions.

• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this

happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with

the flooring manufacturer.

• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.

Dyson 25 gets too much suction in the carpet, does not move. How can we fix it?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25 is a powerful upright vacuum, with strong suction to clean carpets and hard floors effectively. However I'm surprised to hear you're finding your machine hard to use on this particular carpet type.

I would encourage you to contact us directly, as in order to help we would need to take some further information about the carpeting, and how you're using your DC25.

When you have your vacuum to hand, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Self adjusting head plate not adjusting to hard floor

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty pushing your DC41 on hard flooring. However I'm confident I can help you resolve this - if you can email me directly at [email protected], I'll be in touch as soon as possible to take some further details. If you have the facility to attach a clear photo of the underside of your vacuum's cleaner head to your email, that would also be very useful to me.

I'll look forward to hearing from you.

I have a Kenmore "Intuition"

I had a different vacuum that did this. I took all manner of things apart looking for blockages and the like .I found that by having the vacuum handle in the full upright position shuts off the suction to this area and doesn't power the brush BY DESIGN. I think this is to get more suction to the hose.

The suction is good, but it can't pick up most of the stuff on the floor. The hand held hose works very well, but it doesn't even pick up little fuzzies reliably when I push it along. And, the suction is...

Check entire length of hose, including the piece in the power head, for clogs. Simply drop a marble in one end and allow it to roll out the other. If it doesn't, then the hose is clogged somewhere.

Hoover Windtunnel carpet level adjustment

The suction is so great that it sucks up your carpet, then nothing works. I get my children to stand on the corners/edges of the rug so that it stays perfectly flat on the floor while I vacuum. Or, you can turn off the brush roller (set it to "hard floor" setting). Or, tip the vacuum cleaner's front up slightly while vacuuming, to reduce suction.
