Unable to send a print job to the device.

We recently received a used Canon iR5570. We installed the device, and setup a print queue on our print server. We are using DNS. And we manually configured the network settings on the device. The network settings were confirmed via the copier web interface. When sending a print job to the copier the print job shows up on the server print queue, but never shows up on the device. We are able to scan documents to a network folder from the device. We believe the previous owners used the device as a network printer as well as a copier/scanner. Why can't we print?

Check your bootrom version. If it ends in a C rather than an N it does not have the Multi PDL print kit installed.

Have you installed the relevant printer driver? The UFR version should suffice.

Canon ir3170 photocopier how do operate all setting in default setting?

The iR C3170 has two printer board options. The first is the built-in Canon board and the other is the EFI (Fiery). The Canon board is configured via the touch panel via Additional Functions > System Settings > Network Settings. If the Fiery is attached (there will be a rectangular box on the back of the printer that the Cat5 connects to) it is configured via the touch panel but you access it differently. In the top right hand corner of the display will be an arrow. Press it and the next screen will show printer setup/status.

Now for both the Canon and the Fiery, AppleTalk is not enabled by default and therefore has to be if you are going to connect this way. However, if you have the Canon board, it uses the Canon Mac PS Driver v1.40 (or later) that connects via LPR. After you run the installer and then restart (a must) you will have a new option under More Printers called Canon IP (PS). Open this dialog and enter the IP address of the iR C3170 and the queue name of LP. The utility will query the device and choose the appropriate ppd.

But if you want to connect via AppleTalk you cannot use this driver. You need to use the ppd only, which will be on the PS driver cd or you can download from the web.

Now there are a couple of reasons the print job can disappear when using lpd. If the Fiery is attached, the queue name has to be set, such as print. Note that the queue has to be typed as lower case. If the queue name is not set print jobs simply vanish once they leave the Mac.

If you have the Canon board then the queue name is not a factor but there is a setting in the copier called Dept ID and if this is on, it can stop jobs from printing that don't have an appropriate ID. To print with Dept ID enabled you have to use the Canon Mac driver mentioned above. You cannot use the ppd!The driver has the facility to set a user ID (which is generally used for tracking or controlling usage - especially colour) in the driver, located under Special Features. Note that if the Mac only has one user, you can set the ID in the driver and then save the config as a preset, which saves the user having to input the ID every time they print.

Hope there is enough in here to help. Get back to me if you still have issues.

Printer was working, but is not now. All cables are hooked up properly and have been disconnected and reconnected. I have several documents in the memory to be printed, but the printer will not respond. ...

Here are four things you can try; may not have to perfom all:

Check to see if your printer is off-Line

1.Open the Printers, Printer and Faxes, or Device and Printers folder.

To do this:

Windows XP users; Click on Start > Settings > Printers an Faxes or Start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

Windows Vista users; Click on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Printers.

Windows 7 users; Click on Start > Device and Printers.

2.Right-click on the printer object (icon), and select Use Printer Online.

3.Microsoft Windows 7 users will double-click on icon, select printer and then de-select Use Printer Offline.

Printer Paused

The printer or print queue is paused and the print queue icon remains in the notification area ('systray') of the task bar.

Explanation:This is typically an end user error. Hint: Dragging the mouse cursor over the print queue icon in the notification area will reveal (1,2,3) document(s) pending for (User name).

What to do:

•Double-click on the print queue icon to open the print queue.
•Click on Printer in the upper left-hand corner of the menu bar.
•Is there a check mark next to Pause Printing?

-If yes, click on Pause Printing to turn off this Windows feature.

-If no, confirm that there is a check mark next to Set As Default Printer and make sure Use Printer Offline is not selected.

Delete print jobs from the print queue

Access the print queue.

Delete all print jobs

• Click on Printer in the toolbar and then click on Cancel All Documents,
or
• Right-click in the print queue and select Cancel All Documents from the pop-up menu.

You can also delete individual print jobs

1.Highlight the individual job in the print queue by clicking on it.

2.Right-click on the highlighted job and select Cancel from the pop-up menu.

IMPORTANT! If a job is stuck in the print queue and cannot be deleted or canceled using the above steps, there may be an issue with the printer spooler that controls the printing options in Windows. If you observe this symptom, it may be necessary to stop and restart the print spooler; then retrun to delete print jobs.
