Usually theres a plastic pedal you would step on to release the handle.... first thing i would try is pushing up (foreward) on the handle and try pressing the pedal .if the pedal wont push down at all then something might have gotten jammed down in it..... at which point you'd have to do a bit of fiddling around with it to see whats keeping it jammed up.....also... there could be something stuck in there thats keeping the handle from being able to move down.... as for the self propelled part.... it probably wont work untilthe handle is lowered... hope this helps

SOURCE: Can't lower handle on Hoover wind tunnel vac U6432-900

Anne, Do you mean that when you depress the pedal on the left side of the machine body that you can't get the upper portion to release into a lower mode? Or are you fully depressing the pedal?? As for the switch for the self propelled mode, that's actually just a small button that you move around in the slot of the handle to select which mode you want to use. It's not actually a switch. If you are fully depressing the handle release pedal and it's not releasing, you should take it to the store where you purchased it, if it was a vacuum store. If you bought it at a big box store, then you'll need to take it to some repair shop that does warranty work, if it's within the warranty period of course.

How do I hook up the upholstery attachment on a Hoover Spin Scrub 50?

To connect the upholstery tool, first remove the clean water tank by pressing down on the handle and pulling the tank forward. Remove the hose from the storage rack. Press down on the handle release lever and lower the handle to the ground. Unlatch the back part of dirty water tank and remove the lid. Pull the dirty water tank's front panel up about an inch and rotate the panel to parallel with the floor. Replace the panel with the converter and slide it halfway down until it is firmly in place. Pull the collar on the connecting tube towards the tube so that the black tabs are fully extended. Open the door on the hood labeled Stair/Upholstery cleaning connection and press the round solution tube onto the round projection. Press the collar firmly to ensure that the tube is connected. Replace the tank in a hinge-like manner and place the lid under the tabs on the front of the tank. Rotate the lid down onto the tank.

Now slide the upholstery tool on the connector of the hose until the tab locks into place.

The manual for the Spin Scrub 50 is available on the Hoover product page: http://hoover.com/products/details/fh50044/steamvac-spin-scrub-50-carpet-washer-with-tools/ . The direct link to the manual is http://hoover.com/file/1195/ . The directions are on page 14-15.

I hope this helps.

Where is schematics online to replace lower hose assembly part

There is no schematic that I am aware of. I can tell you that from experience that this repair is very difficult. Basicaly the upper and lower handle unscrew along with the tank base, the hood comes off. the lower handle will split but not comes completely apart to remove the hose section. When reassembling, be sure to put the back hose gasket in the correct position. Look at it (take a picture) prior to repair first.
