TomTom Go510 Hi, I bought a TomTom Go510 when I was in the US. I had to relocate to India immediately after having purchased the same. Little did I realize that this hardware will not work in India. After some grueling search I found out that there are other products such as www.maymyindia.com, www.satguide.in Since I am very new to this GPS hardware/firmware world. I know not how to replace the firmware which is on the system which I have. After I purchased the TomTom GO510 device my friend from the US gave me a SD card which he said had the cracked maps. So I suspect the SD card which I have has that cracked components on it. If anyone can help me with this solution I would be very greatly obliged. Thx Ravi

    what did u mean by replace the sd card? did you want me to remove the sd card? also I checked the website thepiratepay.org I didnt find anything relating to the maps for india over there. I wanted to confirm that there is no maps provided by TomTom available. I will have to find an alternative provider such as mapmyindia.com or satguide.in and replace the firmware which is currently on my system with theirs. Please advise.

Replace the sd car tap on change preferences than tap switch map than tap india if the map is not working you can download it from www.thepiratepay.org

    there is a map of northern india and china it doesn't have the capita new delphi sorry but i'm still mad at your rating

    FORGET it there's no way to transfer map of mapmyindia to tomtom there are different systems with different binaries i'm still mad at your rating

TT 510/710/910 have similar problems with having it on while not used for a long time. The battery is not charged because of a low voltage on it. The easiest is to turn the device apart, and short-circuit it with the power adapter. After around 15-30mins it should get to a higher level, and then start charging normally. The ultimate solution is not letting it discharge to 0... :(

You need to go to the TomTom web site and register, then you can download the necessary software install that and THEN & only then connect up your GPS, with the USB cable, & turn on. Then you will be able to update it. Via the internet.

You will only get a free update on a new device if you install tomtom home on your computer and login withing the first 2-3 months of purchasing your device. Also, if you purchased a device that is "refurbished" or "recertified" then you do not get this free update and your map can be up to about a year and a half old. In this case, you would have to purchase a map update. To update you will have to install TomTom Home on your computer (download from TomTom.com) and login. You can typically purchase one update for about 45 USD or purchase a year of updates for just a little more (like 59.99 USD). A "year of updates" gives you an updated map each quarter for one year. I don't know that I would have bought a TomTom for use outside of North America or the UK. Sorry.

I purchased tom tom go510 14months ago, but it will not charge in house or car charger, what shall i do, this cost me over 269.00, i am not very happy its only lasted just over 12 months
I would call tomtom and see if they can send you a new battery sounds like it might be bad,is the green light showing that's it charging?if so and the battery isn't holding a charge I would call them and say that it went bad about 2 months ago.Good luck

There are no India maps for tomtom. For India maps you may use Mapking, SatNav or MapMyIndia (best maps but with lousy software).
