Your control board is probably going out. Will need to replace eventually.

Thank you for taking the time to post, however I have fixed the problem, upon taking the cover off & having another look I noticed the high speed gears had become miss aligned (the gear on the vertical shaft had worked it's way upward) thereby causing the tachometer sensor to give false readings. I pushed the gear back down & it works fine.

Is is worth repairing a Kenwood Prospero stand mixer km24?

If you have a multi meter check the box caps and resistors for KM 2XX series then replace it whenever required. Some may differ in values like 0.15uF 275x2, 0.33uF 275X2 or 0.47uF 275X2 then resistors may also differ with different models but common to have 1.1k ohms 2watts. Also if caps are open it is good to check the 600V triac and replace it when giving out lower output. I also advise to clean the commutator esp when is is sparking a lot, you may use light sanding and clean it after. Check also if the tachometer is good, there is a resistor-like-coil hidden under a plastic tab with 2 wires. This gives feedback and via a magnet attached to the shaft. Check the motor brush if it is good or worn out. Lastly check all the switches because if one of them is not working properly you wont be able to let the motor run.

Kenwood prospero wont start

Hi on my new Kenwood Prospero+ model khc29h0wh (but applies to all) I had same problem: dough mixer and high speed mixer working, but "medium speed" food processor and Juicer not working.
After lots of time I realised... the lid of the Juicer/Processor actually locks in three different positions, but only one of these (with the handle corresponding to a mark) actually locks lowering a white plastic security prong that activates the switch. It is the position in which the lid and container prongs coincide.

I have a kenwood KMx 50 mixer & it has a speed control problem when you trurn the speed knob a little way the mixer accelerates to top speed then slows to approx 30% speed, then you can adjust the speed....

KMX50 would start and accelerate to high speed, then slow down some with fairly erratic speed. I tried changing the triac on the main speed control board, then also the whole board (£45). It made no difference.

The only other component I realised it might be was the speed control board which is on the rear end of the motor under the main cover (I found this component on a site selling Kenwood parts, and was where I got the main board from, which is how I know it's speed control). When I inspected it I found two of the terminals broken. You had to look very closely to see they were broken. It's a poor design as the three legs of the terminals are quite long, and very thin, so on high speed when kneading there is much vibration, which is why I suspect the terminals broke. I cut them back just enough to resolder. The component isn't quite fully inside the sensor wheel on the motor shaft, but it still picks up sufficient signal to control the speed and now works fine. Haven't tried it under load yet, but no reason to think it won't work correctly. So check this before ordering a £45 board!

Kenwood prospero km262 stopped working

In my case, capacitor C1: 470nF (on the circuit board) proved to be the cause. It measured only half its normal value. It's part of a voltage divider used in place of a transformer. Replacing it solved the problem.
Came already across the same problem in another circuit.

The machine only works intermittently

had the same problem with Kenwood Prospero.
look for 2 pairs of watty (1.1 kohm 2W?)series resistors. At junction of the
2 pairs there is glue which degrades with heat and becomes conductive. CAREFULLY scrape away the old glue after removing the resistors. Check for shorts and resolder the resistors. You may be lucky. I was

The machine keeps cutting out during blending and mixing

need clarification. what does cut out mean? The motor stops altogether? The beaters stop spinning but you still get motor sounds? It comes on and goes completely off while in use and then comes back on. is there ever a bad smell or smoke? Are there any unusual sounds that you hear before it does a cut out or after it comes back on? Does it ever go up or down in speed on it's own. do the attachment gears on top spin while you are mixing in the bowl? we need to narrow the field of questions down to get to the right repair path. Please let us know.

My wife's Kitchen Aid Artisan 325W mixer has no high end speed. I tried a new set of brushes with no change. Then starting on speed 1 to 2 and from 2 to 4 you get a nice speed increase the speed the...

You need to adjust the mixer speeds. Obtain a copy of the KSM150 Repair Part List from Kitchenaid.com. Remove the screw holding the End Cover and locate the three screws from the Control Plate. All three (2 top left and right, and 1 bottom) must all be adjusted. 1. Loosen the lock nuts enough & Turn the 2 top screws clockwise until they cannot be turned
anymore. Leave the bottom screw alone for now.
2. Use a dab of white paint or paper whiteout to mark the positions of the Phillips screws.
3. Plug in your mixer and Set the speed selector to "Stir".
4. Turn each top screw One full turn couterclockwise (alternating between Left and Right)
Keep making one full turn at the time (for both left and right) until the motor starts running.
5. Put your hand near the Agitator shaft and allow it to brush your finger slightly. Use your
watch or clock and start counting the number of times the shaft touches your finger in
60 seconds. The correct count should be 60 RPM (Rounds Per Minute). If it is less
or more than 60, give each screw 1/4 turn counterclockwise or clockwise and start counting
again. Now tighten both lock nuts.
6. Set the speed selector to "6" and turn the bottom screw either clockwise or counterclockwise
to achieve a speed of 180 RPM.

For your reference, the planetary RPM's for the 5-qt. tilt-head Artisan Stand Mixer are as follows:
Stir speed - 60
Speed 2 - 95
Speed 4 - 135
Speed 6 - 180
Speed 8 - 225
Speed 10 - 280
