Sony a100 distortion dots - Im getting several

Sony a100 distortion dots - Im getting several image distortions (dots) especially noticeable on blues. Clean 'shake' mode does not clear problem. Is this dust / dirt needing professional cleaning or a is it more a serious flaw of Sony cameras?

If these are single pixels on the LCD screen, they are normal. From pg. 8 of the user's guide:

"The LCD monitor is manufactured using extremely high-precision technology so over 99.99% of the pixels are operational for effective use. However, there may be some tiny black points and/or bright points (white, red, blue or green in color) that constantly appear on the LCD monitor. These points are normal in the manufacturing process and do not affect the images in any way. "

This may also be helpful.

"images may trail across the LCD monitor in a cold location. This is not a malfunction. When turning on the camera in a cold location, the LCD monitor may become temporarily dark. "

Why am I getting pictures with curved edges edges

Hi Ian
What you are suffering is something called barrel distortion which causes images to appear spherised or "inflated". Barrel distortion is associated with wide angle lenses and typically occurs at the wide end of a zoom lens. The use of converters often amplifies the effect. It is most visible in images with perfectly straight lines, especially when they are close to the edge of the image frame

the way to solve it is to try not use the end of the of the zoom of your lens. Above 20 mm you should be fine. If this is not possible then you can correct the effect in programmes like Photoshop

Hope this helps

I have a Hyundai rear television HY5111W.I noticed that picture became distorted then disappeared. Can you help me fix it

Hello

Watching standard cable on an HDTV can be quite a shock; the images are likely to be in a smaller aspect ratio, and have grainy or pixelated distortions. Additionally, the use of non-HD compatible devices, such as a DVD player, VCR, or older gaming system, will produce a less than stellar picture.

If you've changed the aspect ratio or your television, or have changed the zoom in or out, you may be encountering distortion that would otherwise not be noticeable. Setting the picture to a 1:1 ratio and turning off any overscan can help ensure a better quality image.

If you're using a system that supports HD, such as a Blu-ray player or an HD-compliant gaming system without the use of an HDMI cable, the image may be distorted. HDMI cables transmit both HD quality digital images and sound over one cable, and provide the best possible picture A/V signals.

Sony DSC-t33 lcd monitor is distorted.Pictures

Hi!
It's a faulty CCD imager - a very common problem with the T33 - the imager has to be replaced. You can buy it from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/toms.rammsteins and replace the CCD yourself (ask seller the instructions).
