My Emerson TV won't change channels & the remote won't work no matter what I press. The red light isn't on either & I don't know if that's the problem.

I can only get it to go off by unplugging it. It comes on but stays at the channel it's at.

SOURCE: Looking for a remote for an old Emerson TV

Hi,

Call 1 800 Remotes or go to www.remotes.com. In the middle of the page type in the model number which in your case would be VT1920. I believe the original remote is not available anymore but you can get a substitute remote for that TV. Also have you considered getting a universal remote? Those work on any TV with any component. Try the first two suggestions and hopefully you will find what you are looking for...

Hope this helps,
Sincerely,
Raelyn

SOURCE: Can't find the input/video channel for my Emerson TV

universal remotes are tricky, if you have the pamphlet, often times there are several codes for each brand. you have to try all the emerson codes for your universal even tho the power, volume and channel functions may work with several emerson codes, some of these specialized buttons (like input) may only work on your TV with one specific code.

also, if there are any unlabeled buttons on the universal try them with each new emerson code.

Member Since:‎03-10-2011 Posts: 69 Re: remote code for emerson hdtv [ Edited ] what remote do you have?
the best way is to try the search feature....Emerson tvs do not like comcast remotes... ive had a very low success rate. If its a combo emerson tv then i wouldnt even try.
This is for Red select button remote.
With TV on:
Hold down setup button while in TV mode till tv light blinks... Type in 9 9 1 then 1 again, press grey power button once then continue to press channel up button until the TV turns off. Hit setup to lock in the code.
DTA is the same except you just do 991 then start pressing channel up.
Go slow at first it is easy to skip past it and lock in the wrong code. If you press channel up for more then... lets say 2 min... then its not going to work.
good luck

Toshiba won't function with remote

All universal remote controls should have to setup with the TV by its codes. There are codes, given below, to synchronize the TV with remote control. Brand name of the remote control you have isn't matter. Check these codes. Proceedings also is given. If you want further details, check this link, and select the site 'Electro-help'. pull up older posts there for more details.
Setup codes for Toshiba TV are:
0159 0178 0109 0120 0181 0105 0049 0095 0170 0260 0358 0394 0924 0012 0095 0117 0141

Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

You were attempting to perform a power scan initially. The second procedure is manually attempting to address the remote to your TV. I will give you the procedures again so you can try one more time. Emerson TV is one brand we have a low percentage of success getting our remotes to work. If it still doesn't work, we could try replacing the remote.

TV code: 623, 667, 666, 233, 516, 537, 544, 642, 655, 699, 000, 999, 888, and 720.

Remotes: Basic (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for six seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
  4. Press #. Note: The LED will flash three times.
  5. Test functionality with the TV.
  6. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.
Remote Power Scan: Basic Remote (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for six seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Press and release the red TV Power button.
  4. Press and release the Up or Down Arrow on the remote until the television turns off once every second.
  5. After the television turns off, press and release the # button.
  6. Test functionality with the TV.
  7. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

I have an emerson ewf2006 tv i have no remote but i do have a philips universal remote model cl034. i cant seem to find a code to make it work. does that remote even work for that tv? or do i need to...

Hello
Your Philips CL 034 model remote control should work with almost all models of Emerson TV. Codes to check with are

0002 0502 0006 0115

0506 0706 0520 0906 0316

0505 0614 0324 0924 0626

0826 0027 0327 0128 0228

0632 0134 0247 0605 0705 0805

0703 0903 0004 0519 0106 0104
0304 0604 0804 0005 0105 0305

Be patient and check with these codes one by one, till you find the code for your Emerson model.
NB: Switch OFF and switch ON your TV set, with its front panel power control switch, before trying an other code.

Four digit universal remote code for Emerson TV/vcr combo are:-

I have a Brookstone remote and I need the code

You'll have to try a few: 073, 075, 078, 081, 082, 083, 084, 092, 096, 103, 104, 105, 106, 108, 114, 117, 119, 125, 129, 130, 131, 134, 139, 144, 146. Or use "automatic coding": turn off appliance, hold down function key on remote (ex., TV) until red light comes on, press & release OFF/ON, press Channel + continually and slowly until appliance turns on, press OK to lock in this setting. Repeat if this doesn't work.

Lost remote

Actually I found there are several remotes that work. The first is the Bright House networks remote, the larger one...The second is The Universal Remove Control by GE. It's numbered 24944 in the upper right hand corner of the paper. It's sold for $4.94 at Walmart in the checkout area...

I found that manually inputting the code for the remote doesn't work. You have to do a search for the code using their method...on this particular remote from Walmart, its hold the setup button down until it lights up, then press and depress the TV button...then press channel up until the TV changes channels. It worked once, but I just kept going, the 2nd time it worked, then I pressed the mute button [to keep the code] and it works...you simply press input and it switches to AV.

I have to admit I thought it was ridiculous that you can't use this particular TV without the remote, but I was happy that I went through the effort the first time to keep trying remotes...

This is the first kids TV that I have found that you can't find the AV channel by going through the channels AND you can't hook up two items to the AV outlets because you have to disconnect the back or front ones, to use the other....PLUS it only comes with a dual AV outlet, instead of the 3 plugs [red, white, yellow] only has the white and yellow.

A disappointing TV to say the least.

Lost remote programing directions

Great News!! We can program most Philips Universal Remotes with Automatic Code Searh. Here's how it works on most of our remotes.

Programming with Code Search

1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.

2. Press and hold Code Search button until the red indicator stays on. Release the Code Search button.

3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blink, then stays lit.

4. Press the Channel Up button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device could be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press the Channel Down button to backtrack through the library until the device changes channel. Pressing Channel Up changes direction to forward again. Press and release the Mute button to install the code.

The above assumes that you want to store the VCR you want under the VCR but, Cable codes under the CBL, etc

Note: if the device does not have a chat channel at a button, you should Play (VCR only) or Power instead.

Here is a Code List on PDF that shoud be universal for most remotes. It worked for me.
http://www.remotecodelist.com/remot...ps-Magnavox_PM525S.pdf

Hope this helps you out, good luck.

Need programming directions for emerson jumbo universal remote

Code search by device

turn on device you want to control (tv, vcr, dvd)

press and hold the CODE SEARCH button untill the red indicator light remains red, then release

press the desired mode button ( tv vcr dvd) and release

press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly ( up to 300 times)
until device changes channel the red indicator blinks then stays lit

press and release the Enter button to install code Another view: Someone on another board pointed out that with some newer models you do not need to press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly. Rather, you press it only ONCE, and the device will cycle through all the code possibilities. When the TV turns off, it means that the proper code has been found. Immediately press the Enter button to install that proper code. This method (and no other) worked for me.
