Power Problem I have a Motherboard: P4M80-M4 BIOS 2GB RAM 400MHz Video Card 2.66GHz CPU Custom LAN Connector Mini DIMM Connector for Mouse and Key Board ETC. My Diagnosis: When I press the power button, my computer will not start, then disconnect all devices on my computer except the Power Supply and RAM Card. When I do the last attempt, no sign of power. Thne I disconnect the 4-pin cable that goes from the Power Supply to the motherboard near the CPU and the pc turns on fine but no video signal, when I connect it back it does not turn on Someone can help me solve this problem.

SOURCE: P4M80-M4 not powering up

was that really all it was ? i have the same problem you had... computer not booting with this motherboard. I have tried everything !!! remove battery to clear CMOS use the jumper to clear the cmos change the keyboard, change the PSU, boot without RAM, change the RAM, put everything on a wood table (all outside of the case). Tried with all drives connected on the mobo, tried with no drives. I even changed the CPU but the other CPU i used, i wasn't sure if it was still OK tough. I checked to see if some connections were broken or something ... i'm about to try to find the 1-800 number of biostar, or send the mobo for a refund. What else could i try ?

Motherboard Power Problem

Hello Alienware,

Could be a few things.... such as the micro-fuses that have gone on the MB....

But what I dont understand is this:...."Then I disconnect the 4-pin cable that goes from the Power Supply to the motherboard near the CPU and the pc turns on fine"

How????
You have just disconnected the cable from the PSU to the motherboard....it CANT turn on! LOL.

Do you mean that the lights turn on?
Or you hear the HD spin up (if you left it connected to the MB that is)?

Please advise so I can help you more.

Have a replacement motherboard. After about 1 minute it powers itself off. Sometimes it does it sooner - sometimes later. Have replaced the Power supply, removed the graphics card, unplugged all...

Your motherboard is manufacturing defective. If the motherboard still under warranty, take it back to the computer shop where you purchase and demand for an exchange.

No display please give all knowledge of it's troubleshooting

Check if you can see the BIOS screen. If yes, then try with an external display.
If the Bios screen is not visible then try to check the cable connections if it is a desktop Pc and if it is a notebook/netbook then try by moving the display back and forth.
