Some one gave my an older Sanyo Washing machine. The name on it says fridgette and model number is SW-431P Its an oldie. It hums when I plug it in but doesn work. Doesn't wash or spin. This is the older type of washer like the old hoovers that had the washer part on one side and you took the clothes out and put them in the spin basket on the side.

Make sure belts are still atached. Belts are relatively inexpensive and eazy to replace yourself.

Possibly a loose agitator, try lifting the agitator, if it lifts then it is un secure, remove the softener cap and down inside the agitator you will see the fixing bolt,
You will need to lift out the agitator to retrieve the bolt if it has come fully un done, refit the agitator and secure using a socket and long extension bar.

SOURCE: washer stops at the spin cycle and won't drain

check your lidswitch. do you hear it clicking when you raise and lower the lid.
