Hotpoint 9540 goes through wash cycle fine pumps empty then stops before starting the rinse cycle. This happens on any cycle. This does not happen every time. Note, I recently changed the door seal.
Thanks
Suggestion: Try cleaning your outlet filter. This needs periodic cleaning, according to your usage. Refer to user's manual re. the cleaning.
When it is the rinse problem it usually is the filter block.

I have had similar situation with my top load washer over the years. It has been the timer 3 times and the water pump 1 time.
How I came up with it being the timer. The knob which you set it on the type wash you want. Put it on a different cycle and see if it completes the wash cycle. example if my washer is not working when I put it on heavy wash cycle I might put it on the casual wash cycle. If you change the wash cycle and it goes through the complete cycle it is probably the timer which is part of the knob you change for different wash cycles with.
If it stops when it is time to empty the tub on all cycles it may be the water pump which empties the tub. The one time I had a problem with the water pump it was a small piece of coal had the pump locked up. I never figured how it got out of the tub and to the pump but I put it back together and it worked fine.
It should not go into the spin cycle if the tub is full of water.
Two of the timers I bought cost 40 - 60 dollars. One was 140 dollars I bought a new washer that time because the washer only cost 220 dollars.
the pump is blocked, so the sensor detects that the machine has not emptied in the allocated time, so this will reset the time.... the pause is because it knows there is a probblem getting rid of water.
location: bottom right near the motor. ensure you tip the washer as far forward as you can so you can get a bucket under in order to prevent flooding.
Washing machine stops at the spin cycle - light flashes. Have to drain water out manually. Happened last week and was then able to run an empty rinse cycle. Machine worked normally for another week. Same problem today but have had to drain water manually from the drum after trying an empty 90 wash and rinse cycle (both stopped on the Spin and flashed). Any ideas? Thanks. x
Check latch mechanism for alignment. Often operation of machine loosens latch mechanism causing internal switch for "door open (or ajar)" preventing rinse or spin cycle. Opening and closing door presses latch mechanism closing internal switch allowing for continue processing to rinse or spin cycles.
your cold water valve will be your problem or you've turned the water supply off, if the supply is not off put the machine on to the final rinse if it fills it will be the main rinse valve gone. The cold water valve is a double one with 2 solaniods. Unplug the machine turn water supply off remove fill hose
there are 2 screws keeping the top on, remove them lift the lid off.undo the screws that keep the valve on, take note wiring and remove pull the black hoses off, replace with new one. The resistance of the valve will be around 3.4 kohms
It turned out to be a bad cold water solenoid. Thanks for your help.
