It sounds like the computer is trying to use a resolution that the monitor cannot handle. Boot into safe mode by pressing the f8 key during boot up and select safe mode. Once booted, right click on the desktop and select properties. In settings lower the resolution by moving the bar to the left and reboot.

I would move it all the way down, you can then move it up a step at a time once you are in normal mode again.

Hope this helps

Upon powering up, a banner flashes OUT OF RANGE. What is the fix?

The maximum/native resolution for this display is 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz, you need to adjust your PC video resolution, it is too high right now for the Viewsonic to work. Hook up your old monitor and set the new resolution, otherwise bootup in safe mode (hit f8 key while booting up) and choose VGA support, set the new resolution, reboot.

Out of range message seen after installed new software and reboot

The monitor will display out of range message because the PC video resolution is too high for the monitor to display, the new software may have changed or corrupt the video seting, try booting up in safe mode (hit f8 while computer booting up) and set the video resolution to 640 x 480, then reboot in regular mode, then reset the resolution to the native resolution of this monitor which is 1280x1024@60Hz.

Monitor displays then shuts off

Have you verified the video card in the computer with a different monitor? Does the going to sleep message come up prior th the monitor going dark? The bulbs are ok since you do see a picture for a short time. The voltage swing you see on the power supply is too large. It should always be 12 v + or- 10%.

"out of frequency range" message nothing works

Try booting to the ENABLE VGA mode off the F8 menu if you can get to the desktop and then you can go to display properties and see if you can reset the resolution to normal. If no go, try updating the video driver

E-yama monitor "out of range"

The fix was pretty easy in the end.

Instructions are based upon Windows XP Pro OS.

Re-boot computer but inerrupt start-up by pressing F8 (option will vary between computers)

Select SAFE mode but with VGA option in order that the screen will actually display.

Once fully loaded click:

Start
Control Panel
Appearance and Themes
Display
Settings

Using the mouse cursor adjust Screen Resolution sliding scale until the ratio matches your monitor e.g. 1280 x 1084

Then click Apply and OK (important to do it in this order otherwise changes will not be saved)

Reboot as normal and the monitor should now display correctly.

Samsung color monitor

This problem may arise from monitor as well as from cpu.
First of all check it by unplugging the VGA monitor cable.
This will display the "Check Signal Cable" depending on the model of the monitor. But a message will appear rolling on the screen, if it is not a very old monitor.
If the message is appearing OK and green light is continuously on, that means ur monitor is working fine.
The problem may be with VGA cable or with the booting of CPU and probably the RAM. Recommended solution is to reconnect the RAM and then try, if u think u can do. Otherwise call a hardware engineer.
If there is no message and still the light is turning green and yellow. That means the problem is definintely in the monitor.

Thankyou,
Your well wisher
