Epson Ink Problem on sx200 printer

Epson Ink Problem.
Have to change the black ink on my SX200 for the first time. Colours still OK. Purchased "cartridge world" compatible ink cartridge and loaded it. Printer will not recognize it and I can't get it to print. Can my printer only take Epson cartriges and not work with others?

I would suggest you contact "Cartridge World" first for a replacement or refund. Many manufactures build "chips" into their cartridge which send an "empty cartridge" signal to the printer, whether they are truly empty or not. When these "empty" cartridges are refilled, the remanufacturer has to reset the "chip" so that the printer accepts it as a "new" cartridge. If they failed to do that, or the chip could not be reset, the printer will not accept the cartridge. If you really wanted to be thrifty, you could get a chip resetting device specific for your printer or cartridge. Some Epson printers only need a software signal to be sent. Often the "empty cartridge" will print again for a couple hundred pages. Otherwise, best to stick with Epson's own cartridges.

BLACK INK NOT WORKING

Black ink head clogged/cartridge empty. Go to Printer Utility and do a Nozzle Check, Print a Pattern. If Black pattern lines are missing/broken then do another cleaning. Don't forget to try a new cartridge if the cleanings do not work. Refurbished Epson printers are great and can be purchased at www.epson.com/clearance. I have used them for 15 years.

Epson SX200 refuses to recognise compatible cartridges

Hi Howard,

Bottom line, if the printer doesn't accept them, then they are not compatible... I'd recommend returning them for a refund and find a supplier that has tried and tested cartridges.

I'd love to be able to recommend a supplier but as I don't have an SX200 I can't... Others might be able to help if you can indicate where you are in the world as the SX200 is, I believe, zone specific.

Best of luck

Epson sx200 One of the colour inks is empty and no print in black

Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing in black only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing.

Change ink cartridge on epson stylus SX200 -printing head moves from side to side but then parks to the R and I cannot get access to change the cartridges.........

The ink cartridges are all separate so you press the cancel button (with no jobs pending) to bring the cartridge holder in to the right place open the holder remove the cartridge and then replace it, let the printer purge the cartridge then your good to go
