Is the belt tight? Check that its on all pulleys and not slipping as old belts will do that and eventually not drive you at all. If not then your drivetrain is done. Happened to mine from kid pushing it around the yard. Shut it all off, put it in gear, and if it rolls easily as if in neutral then its either junk, or the linkage somewhere in between isn't engaging it.

So, this Sony 60 disc stereo model MHC-GS100 won't rotate cd's and just continuously makes a grinding or motor turning noise but tray doesn't move.

There are a few possible reasons why your Sony 60 disc stereo model MHC-GS100 won't rotate CDs and just continuously makes a grinding or motor turning noise but the tray doesn't move. Here are some of the most common causes:
  • The CD drive belt is worn out or damaged. The CD drive belt is responsible for moving the CD tray and the CD itself. If the belt is worn out or damaged, it may not be able to move the tray or the CD.
  • The CD drive motor is faulty. The CD drive motor is responsible for rotating the CD. If the motor is faulty, it may not be able to rotate the CD.
  • The CD drive gears are worn out or damaged. The CD drive gears are responsible for moving the CD tray and the CD itself. If the gears are worn out or damaged, they may not be able to move the tray or the CD.
  • The CD drive control board is faulty. The CD drive control board is responsible for sending signals to the CD drive motor and gears. If the control board is faulty, it may not be able to send the correct signals to the motor and gears.
If you have checked all of these possible causes and you are still having problems with the CD drive, you should contact Sony customer support for help.
Here are some tips to help prevent this problem from happening in the future:
  • Do not overload the CD drive. Overloading the CD drive can put unnecessary strain on the drive and can lead to premature wear and tear.
  • Do not use damaged CDs. Using damaged CDs can damage the CD drive.
  • Clean the CD drive regularly. Cleaning the CD drive can help to remove dust and dirt that can build up and cause problems.
I hope this helps!

Needle not moving with power?

If the needle won't move with the clutch engaged, unplug the sewing machine and check the drive belt. Replace the drive belt if it's broken. If the drive belt is okay, an internal drive gear failure is likely preventing the needle from moving.

Replaced the drive belt on my lt1000 now when I put in gear it has a grinding noise and won't move?

Something caused the belt to jump off. Could be that the gear box came apart. Check to see if that is the area the noise is coming from.

Change the drive belt on porter cable 371 belt sander

Same problem, drive belt for a PC 371 compact belt sander. Solved using a 4 mm Allen key with short end inserted in the smaller drive gear to rotate the system. This is not as harsh on the tool as using the conduit pipe as shown in the utube video.
Clamp the tool to a bench securely, with good lighting for visibility. Holding the belt partly on the larger gear and on top of the small gear, place the short arm of the Allen key through the open belt into the end of the small gear (4 mm was the correct size on mine). Then turn the Allen key withe long arm slowly while working the belt down onto the smaller gear. Not too easy, nut this will work with good finger presssure alone. Once engaged, keep working it down until its fully engaged (check carefully).
I think it's helpful to drop the belt in hot water before this - doesn't make it stretch better, but the water seemed to help get the belt to move over the drive gear without damage.

LA105 mower won't move when put into gear

Is this happening in all gears or just one? Is the motor bogging at all. If not chances are the problem is in the drive belt to the transmission or in the transmission itself. Check to make sure you are getting it into gear. you should be able to feel the transmission hit a notch for each gear. If you can't, chances are the little module in the top of the trans that sets the gears has broken and needs to be replaced. Often these get sticky before going bad. If the motor is running normally though, it's not the engine, it's drive belt or transmission. with the mower off, you can check the drive belt tension by simply having the clutch pedal in the out (drive) position. In that position the drive belt should be tight enough that you really can't slide it in either direction without causing motion on the motor pulley. If it has slack in it, then your clutch is probably out of adjustment or your drive belt has stretched beyond it's working life. Have you smelled burning rubber at all.. if so the belt is probably slipping. If not, it's more likely that it's in the transmission.

My murray 16.5 42' will not go in gear. what to do

If this is an older mower it will most likely have to do with the linkage, it is worn and will create some problems for it to go into any gear. I just had the same problem with mine. If you are able to move the gear shift but the mower is not moving you will need to replace the drive belt. In order to do this you will need to drop the mowing deck to replace the drive belt. If possible you will need another person to assist you in order to speed things up. If not it will take a couple of hours by your self.

First put it in first or second gear and check the tension on the drive belt. If it is loose this will be the tell all sign that the drive belt will need to be replaced before the mower will move. However, most importantly check the adjustment for the tension on the belt. If it is not already adjusted all the way you can adjust it to put more tension on the drive belt allowing it to move again without the hassle of replacing the drive belt. If this does not work do the following.

Check your linkage where it goes to the top of the rearend and see if it is moving at this location. If it is not moving the lever at the top of the rearend you will need to replace the linkage in order for it to work;.

I was lucky with mine. Once, I replaced the drive belt it started working. I had no reverse.

MTD Lawn Tractor problem

The front belt should be a 954-0280A, rear 954-0370. When you go to higher gears, the front belt should be getting tighter as the vari-speed pulley is moving further back. Remove the shift plate, put the transmission in neutral. Start the engine, put speed selector in highest gear and slowly let out on the clutch. You should be able to see what the problem is. It will do everything the same as if were in gear, except move. Make sure you have the correct belts.
