I will try explain in simple terms...32 and 64 bit is how wide the address bus is..(how much information can be processed at a time in RAM..so 64 bit is much better for everything ...as long as everything running on it is 64bit compatible.... some older programs are designed for 32 bit and are not backward compatible with 64 bit

Hi delta force,

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system. For gaming, you need to view the system requirements on each game to determine if the software is compatible with 64bit. Not all games will work on a 64 bit processor. Some of the newer more graphic games are compatible with 64bit, but I'd check before you purchase. Also, when you purchase a 64 bit processor machine, you'll find that not all your old software will run under it. You may have some problems and will need to upgrade those versions to thier 64 bit version software, (if available). It's great when it works!

Good Luck and don't forget to leave a rating,

Thanks Mark

Depends on how much RAM your system has, processor speeds, etc. Please see this link for Microsoft's take, and links here and here
and here and here, ad infinitum if you google it.
If you have the ram and the drivers for all your other accessories, 64 bit is the future arriving, for sure.
(See discussions of windows 7 on the same subject here and here)
But it all depends on the system and components you're running, and how soon you intend to replace it all, I suppose...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Qc848enu-Compatibility issue in Win 7 64 bit

Hello

It depend on the CPU if it is 32bit or 64bit. Windows 7 64 supports 32 bit software and 64 bit I suggest re-installing the software. It depend on the software if they have 64bit and 32bit you should install the version your PC is. Sometime 32 and 64 bit are embedded in software.

Cursor moves on touchpad but I can't click

First off, we need you to check your OS if it's 32bit or 64bit. If you already know the answer, proceed to step 5.
Now do the following:
  1. Open up the start menu from the lower left corner of your screen
  2. Do a right click on "My computer" (or just "Computer" for Vista/7)
  3. Select "Properties"
  4. Another window will pop up. Look around and you'll see a "32bit operating system" or "64bit operating system" text
  5. For a 32bit operating system, download this file. For a 64bit operating system, download this one.
  6. Open the file, install it by clicking next, next, I agree, install...
  7. Restart your computer and you should be good to go.

I don't have sound after loading the window 7 into my computer

Check the HCL (Hardware Compatibility List) for Windows 7. Your device may not be compatible. Also ensure that you have the right device driver as a 32bit driver is different than a 64bit driver. Ensure you have the correct driver for the OS (32 or 64bit).

I am having hp dc7700 S F F AND I WANT PROCESSOR OF 64 BIT FOR THE SAME

That's not a generic problem for all HP desktops. You have a HP DC7700 desktop (not the server model, I take it?) and all CPUs for that are going to be 64-bit types. So you're in luck unless someone stuck an older CPU and motherboard in there. From then, you can decide to run a 64bit or 32bit OS, and that will affect a few things about what applications, memory and VMs you will run.

You might get better answers if you say why you want a 64bit CPU in there (and since you do, why it doesn't seem to you like you have it); it sure helps if you want >4GB DDR2 or DDR3, but again that sidesteps the issue of what you want to do that could not be done in 32bit mode (see Intel/AMD databook PDFs on the CPUs in question for details on 32-64bit run mode differences.)

It would also help if you actually presented a problem, not a want.

32 Bit or 64 Bit Windows Vista ( 3 Questions)?

Answer 1: The 64-bit version of Vista includes a 32-bit bubsystem to run 32-bit apps. I have not encountered a problem with it yet.
Answer 2: The power is consumed by hardware, not software, so with the same power settings you will see no difference in battery life.
Answer 3: Sorry, I couldn't locate any information about that model. You may be able to find appropriate drivers from other sources by pulling all available details from your existing drivers and searching the mfr website for them.
