Ice maker leaks with or with out power on the far right side

I have a norcool refg with factory installed Ice maker. I added fresh water and clorox to my rv fresh water system getting it clean for use this year. Came back about 4 hours later and found water in the freezer compartment below the ice maker. THe ice maker was leaking water every twenty seconds or so. The refg was off but the rv water pump was on. I turned the water pump off, but the leak continued even put the ice maker in the off position, but it still leaked. I dumped all the water in Rv Tanks and the leak stopped. This is my first problem with this unit. What could I do to fix this problem?

The water valve (or solenoid) that only lets the water through from the water supply line when the ice maker calls for it is leaking you have to replace it.

What may be happening is the water control valve for the ice maker may be allowing water to continue flowing into the ice maker tray even when off due to the water control valve being defective. If your refrigerator also has a water dispenser and the water is not continuing to leak is because the water control valve has to sides. One side is for the ice maker and the other side is for the water dispenser. I am here if you have questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

Hi, I have a Whirlpool refridge. The ice maker is making ice, yet the ice is not dropping into the ice bucket. If you put ice into the ice bucket it will correctly drop through the door. The ice seems...

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

Often ice maker issues are a symptom of an automatic defrosting problem OR a leaking (dripping / bypassing) ice maker water valve.

First off you should try and prove that there are no un-necessary water leakages by doing the following:

1. Turn the icemaker OFF
2. Remove the plastic line where it connects to the thru the cabinet water tube by pinching the clamp and pulling down on the plastic tube.
3. Place end of the plastic tube into a bucket for about 12 hours. At the end of 12 hours check the bucket for ANY water. If there is a noticable amount of water (more than 1 oz) the water valve is leaking water by the valve diaphram seat. The only remedy for this is to change the units water valve assy.

As far as a possible automatic defrosting problem..... soft ice cream is a symptom along with that of low ice production.

The evaporator coils get a substantial amount of ice build up on them and then the airflow in the freezer compartment is restricted resulting in a change in the freezer comprtment temp. If you do have an automatic defrosting problem you will soon notice noise from the evaporator fan as the ice build up encroaches into the fan blade path. Additionally the fresh food compartment will warm up.

The ice maker will not cycle until it reaches 16 to 15 deg F. The ice maker harvest cycle is started when the ice maker thermostat closes and advances the ice maker module.

Do the water in the bucket test and then look for signs of ice build up on the evaporator coils.

If neither of the above manifest / present then download this manual and follow the troubleshooting procedures:

Leaking water in side always

If the water leak is down the back or ctr its the drain line going to the underside of the fridge. If its down the side where the ice maker is its the ice make is not level if no ice maker your tray under the freezer may be leaking instead of draining.

Ice maker leaks water

Good work thus far. If the ice maker tray that holds the ice is leaking, you need to get a new ice maker. It would never work right if you tried to patch it, and would only cause further headaches. Sounds like you have a little experience which is good. Go down to a local retailer and purchase an ice maker and install it yourself instead of paying someone to do it ;) There is no foul in paying to get it done though. good luck!

My refrigerator is leaking in the front

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Ice maker sprays water...

sounds like the inlet part on the ice maker is froze over or not lined up in the opening of it right or a possibilty that the ice maker is leaking out the water if that is the case the ice maker needs replaced

Leaking water from the ice maker

It is very unlikely that you have a leaking water line inside the fridge/freezer, as they are protected from damage. If you have water dripping from the ice maker inside the freezer and/or the dispenser in the door, the most likely problem is the valve that supplies water to the ice maker.

You'll need to replace the water inlet valve that supplies water to the ice maker. This is not the same valve that supplies water to the fridge (I believe the yellow colored valve) but rather, it is the blue valve, mounted just above the main water inlet valve.

At the bottom back right side of the fridge, you can remove the covering and see both the yellow and blue valves. The yellow one (on the bottom) is the incoming water control valve, while the blue (upper one) supplies water to the ice maker.

The part runs about $45-50 if you get it yourself, or around $185.00 for a repair person to come out and do the job for you. It should only take about 20-30 minutes to do it yourself with a small 1/4" nutdriver. Part available from Searspartsdirect.com or several other online and local stores. Just call around and give them your fridge model number and serial number, located on the inside of the fresh food section of the fridge - on the "ceiling" just inside the door.

Hope that helps.

Ice Maker Freezing Up and Ice not dispensing

Check your ice cube tray to see if it is warped. Mine was. I took the tray off and dipped it into boiling water and remoulded it to the original shape and re-installed it. So far no problems. The tray gets warped because of the ice cube release mechanism. The tray is rotated around until it meets a block on one corner which creates the twisting motion we used to do on manual trays. Over time it tends to warp the tray. Good luck

Amana side by side ice dispenser leaking water

Take the ice maker out and look at the mold. If the coating is flaking off then that is where it is leaking. Will need to replace the ice maker.
