We noticed the fan was louder than usual for a couple months and now the tv won't come on - it trys to power on and you can hear the fan start up but then it stops and the red & blue LED lights start blinking alternately. The only way to make the lights stop blinking is to unplug. We were thinking it was the lamp but we're wondering if the problem could actually be the fan.

ok you have defective power supply in hotside section! maybe they have abnormal oscillation!

Look in the owners manual for the directions on how to remove the lamp. Your model the lamp goes in from the front on the left looking at the TV. There is a thumb screw in the back on the corner holding the left front speaker on. Under the panel there is another thumb screw holding the lamp door on. You will need a Phillips screw driver to remove the lamp. You will most likely find that the lamp is bad. You will either have to order a lamp directly from JVC, a service center or a parts distributor.

We just had the same problem. The Projector lamp is burned out. You can get the lamp at Electrified.com. Their phone # is 800-678-8585

when both the blue light and red light are blinking it means 1 of 3 things. 1. lamp replacement. This often works everytime for the repair. TIP!!! DO NOT USE ANY OTHER LAMPS OTHER THAN JVC AUTHENTIC LAMPS. ANY OTHERS AND YOU RISK DAMAGING YOUR TV FURTHER. 2. the fans are not working properly or need to be replaced. They need to be cleaned every so often and they will stop working from burn-out if not done so. This repair will cost you less than 100 dollars. 3. The ballasts are defective and need to be replaced. The ballasts themselves run about 150 dollars. I tell you I have fixed this TV more times than I care to count, not to mention the number of lamps I have gone through. The guy at the TV repair place now knows me by name when i come to buy lamps. :(
