KitchenAid Superba Architect KSCS25INSS Side by Side Refrigerator Logo

Compressor runs continuously, and center bar (heat dissipator) is extremely hot to touch.

I have a Kitchen Aid Superba Side by side ref Model # KSC25INSS00 It seems to be experiencing the same problems that the Maytag refrigerators are being recalled for. Kitchen Aid said it was probably the relay switch that has failed. 1. If this is it, why is Kitchen Aid not recalling their products too? 2. Does anyone know if they are experiencing the same problem? Compressor will not shut off, and the center bar between the ref and freezer is extremely hot to touch. 3. Can I replace it myself? I just fixed my DLP Color wheel this week... Thanks! Molly

It is working correctly now. I am not for sure what did it, but I turned the refrig off, empty all the contents, and cleaned it. Then I took off the panel below the ice shoot (on door, inside) and there was ice build up in there which should not have been. I did forget to remove the ice when I defrosted last, so the water must have leaked into this compartment. Temp is right, bar is only slightly warm now. Yeah!!! Thanks!

Molly, The hot bar is a normal part of the sealed system (compressor) operation. The relay they told you about is on the back of the compressor and I would not recommend you changing that. The refrigerator is a balanced system, the freezer air removes the heat from the refrigerator side. If the compressor runs all the time, look for food close to the edge and not letting the doors close completely. Move items back. Don't over pack the freezer, the air must circulate. The refrigerator of today runs longer and uses less power that the old refrigerator. If you are still having issues with this model call a authorized Kitchen repair person in you area and ask how much they charge to come to your house and give an estimate.

Door and rubbers are extremely hot and we are burrning ourselves while opening and taking food out

Your refrigerator has a stopped up Condenser Coil that needs cleaning with a vacuum cleaner. Also check that the Condenser Fan is working. The Condenser Fan may be bad....It sits under the bottom of the ref near the compressor and runs to cool the compressor. Hopes this helps! Handy Henry

Kitchen Aid #KSCs25INSS01: Outside of Freezer is very hot, jumped down to -15 degrees - will not allow readjustment.

I recently had the same issue of the sides/center becoming hot on my kscs25inss01. The cooling fan would not come on. I kept unplugging and waiting for a while then re-plugging in to get the fan to work for a while (it would run about 12 hours then get hot again, it also takes 7 minutes for fan to come on after plugged in). I also placed a small box fan at the rear vent pulling the air out. I ordered the contoller board and replaced it, now, the fan comes on and it is staying cool.
Replacement:
I removed panel in lower back,
removed inverter box next to compressor,
removed gounding wire on frame,
then removed the controller box - metal box along side of refrigerator
Popped out old board ,
moved the center jumper from old board to new board in same location,
and plugged everything in and sealed it back up in reverse order.

Outside of refrigerator is hot - almost burning hot

The frame between the doors has a refrigerant line running through it to prevent moisture build up between doors (should be room temp. or slightly warm, not hot).
If that area between the doors is hot to the touch, you have two things to check: 1 - are the condenser coils under unit or in the back clean? 2 - is the condenser fan running in the back that is near the compressor running?

Kitchen aid superba side by side refrigerator

CHECK CONDENSOR FAN IN REAR OF UNIT NEAR COMPRESSOR. IF COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING AND UNIT IS COOLING SOME, CONDENSOR FAN IS LIKLY THE PROBLEM. IF THE CONDENSOR FAN DOES NOT RUN THE COILS UNDERNEATH AND THE LOOP THAT RUNS NEAR THE FRONT EDGE OF BOTH DOORS WILL BE HOT.
