How to reset The Latitude C640 Bios password?!

1.First flip your laptop over and remove the battery, as well as any cables connected to the laptop.
2.Remove the screw latched into the memory panel on the bottom of the computer found near the rear.
3.Lift the panel off and expose the memory modules.

Bios locked out

If you know how to dissemble your computer and are comfortable with it, open it and remove the CMOS battery, wait about 10 minutes, put it back and turn on your machine. All BIOS settings should have been restores to factory defaults, including passwords. Hope this is helpful.

Latitude c640, how do i cancel the hard drive password?

boot to the BIOS, go to the HDD password, select change, enter the old password, leave the new one blank.

If you don't know the password then is it a call to Dell to get the master password

What would the default password be as my dell latitude c640 is now asking for one after it crashed

If it is a BIOS or a HDD password, then there is no universal default password and you will need to contact Dell details here:

Since it is a Latitude C Series, it has lifetime free phone support from Dell
If it is a windows password

hi,
check if any updates are availble for the bios
go to support.dell.com > drivers and downloads > put in your service tag and check if any update is available you can update your bios

you can also try restore your bios to factory settings you have an option for this in the bios menu as well and then connect the drive and then boot.

LOST PASSWORD

It looks like Dell is pretty tight with this info. They want you to contact their tech support in one of these ways:

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/contact_technical_support?c=us&l=en&s=gen

Before doing that though, I'd remove all power, unplug the CMOS battery and let it sit for a while before hooking the battery back up, applying power and see what happens.
