Most likely the stator on top of the motor. Its fairly easy to replace. It could also be dirty or rusty which will keep the current needed to charge the battery from being produced. Also check fuses if applicable. Hard to say with the small amount of info you've provided. There are too many variables to give you a decent solution. Maybe a battery that is no good, that is the exact behavior of a bad battery. Old batteries just wont keep, or take a charge, if at all. Try a new battery, if it persists then you know its not being charged.

No spark? Check out ignition coil. Make sure the fuel is turned on if you have an on line hose switch for that.

How do you check the alternator and stater to see

WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING USE A VOLTMETER ACROSS THE BATTERY TERMINALS . IF IT HAS BEEN RUN WITH OUT THE BATTERY CONNECTED, IT WILL NOT CHARGE AS THE RECTIFIER WILL HAVE BURNT OUT.IT MUST ALWAYS HAVE A BATTERY CONNECTED AT ALL TIMES IF THE MOTOR ID RUNNING

Why doesn't craftsman mower tractor yt 3000 charge?

If the battery is below around 11.8 volts it never will charge. The charging systems on these mowers are made to "maintain" the charge. Check the battery, if below 11.8 volts charge the battery with a battery charger. Then see if the mower will maintain the level. If not, you may have a bad battery. Your local automotive store can check it for you.

This is all HP recommends for the HP Deskjet 2460, so I wouldn't suggest buying anything else. First of all it might not fit and second, even if it fits, other issues may come with using those. If you can't see the list here it is:

My garden tractor is not holding it's battery charge. I replaced the battery, but still doesn't hold a charge after I use it.

If you replaced the battery with a new one and it is not holding a charge, then your charging system is not putting out enough power to run the mower AND recharge the battery. So you need to figure what is wrong in the charging system.

If I am not using my craftsman lawn tractor for the winter do I 1. just charge the battery up--remove and store it OR 2. remove it and put on trickle charger?

charge it, remove it, store it somewhere with ventilation at temperature above freezing. charge in spring before use.

Put it on maint. free and 12 amp for about 8 hours and you will be good to go...

Check and clean all of your connections at your solenoid back to "shiney and bright". That sounds like the problem.
