SOURCE: Fiji Finepix S5500

solved my own problem, but for the benefit of others.
the camera is held together via about four/five small phillips screws. these need to be removed. the back of the camera will come away from the body. Make sure you don't pull too hard as there is a small connecting ribbon between the camera and the rear circuit board attached to the back. This ribbon is held in place at either end by small brown/tan coloured clips that hinge up to release the ribbon and down to clamp the ribbon to the connections. Try removing the ribbon ends and replacing it. If you are careful you can do this with batteries in place. Make sure you have your card in place, it won't work otherwise. I just realigned the ribbon and the camera works wonderfully. Might help with other errors. also a small ribbon attached to the multi function button, may have the same result for other problems. good Luck.

SOURCE: camera turns on but it does nothing.

The ribbon cable for the buttons has either come out of its socket because it was not locked down (does happen) or it is broken and will need to be replaced. Fuji will not send out spare parts but will fix it for a price. Last quote I got from fuji to fix the keypad ribbon on an F470 was £80. check ebay for donor camera

SOURCE: says date/time not set but wont let me set the time or date!

Broken keypad ribbon. It's because the keypad ribbon is folded over twice and the creases split over time. have a look at my tips page for this problem. It won't help you much I know and the only solution is a replacement membrane.

SOURCE: I'm having the same problem

This is a case of the main board within the camera having errors. The processor that controls the functions of the camera is not booting up to give the parameters needed for the drive and execution. You can reset the camera by removing the battery- make sure this is full charged- removing the memory card. Now depress the ,menu and shoot buttons to drain off all residual voltages on the processor. Check the memory card on you PC, open files and transfer all files toa marked folder. Now FORMAT the card. Replace the battery , card and check. If the camera hangs up while power the camera keeping the lens hood on your palm tap the camera so as to reset any jammed mechanism. If not the camera must be checked for consensus with a service center.

Can not set date on kadak easyshare c330

The camera should be able to have its date and time set through the menu and it should hold the date if you switch batteries. If it doesn't then the internal battery may have to be changed by a kodak service center.

The camera screen displays "Date/Time have been reset." What should I do?
This message appears if:
  • this is the first time that you have turned on your camera.
  • the battery has been removed for an extended period of time.
  • the battery is exhausted.
To set the date and time:
  1. Press the Menu button.
  2. Use the arrows to:
    1. Select the Setup menu.
    2. Select the Date & Time feature.
    3. Set the date and time.
  3. When you are finished, press the OK button.
