HP L7580 Printer Head Problem??

I just purchased this printer. I changed the yellow ink, because it told me to. Now I'm getting an error message that my black and yellow printerheads has a problem. After I replaced the ink, I held the 'enter' button down for 5 seconds, then closed the ink cartridge door, as instructed, and this is when I started getting the error message. Any ideas?

I have the same problem and there is NO error message what so ever, but the Black is not printing atall, I tried to print Black document with color preference and still it will not print, I am lost as what is the problem, because I followed all the steps and there is no error message, Don't really know what to do now.
    ANY suggestion?

Try the following

Note: If you have connected the printer to a power strip , please remove it and connect it to a wall outlet.

Remove the cartridges and print heads from the printer.

Perform power drain.
1.Unplug the power cable from the back of the
printer.
2.Press and hold the ok and help button.
3.wait for 30 secs
4.Plug the power cable back to the printer

Comes up with an msg to insert the print heads. Shake
the print heads well (8 times) and insert it.

If there is no problem with the print heads .......

Comes up with the msg for cartridges.Shake the
print cartridges well (8 times) and insert them.

If there is no error message regarding the alignment failure.
Turn the printer off and turn it on.

This should begin the with the initialization process of the printer.

This may fix the problem.

Please revert back if you have any problem.

I had the same problem plus had problems with message indicating "alignment failed" and to monitor the blakc/yellow print head.  The print quality was very bad in black.  It seemed to print about 1.5 lines and then skip a line. When I replaced black and yellow it seemed to get better print quality was just as bad.  Finally called HP support. These are the steps they told me to do.

1. disconnect power

2. remove all ink cartridges

3. remove and clean contacts of both print heads

4. perform simultaneously the following press 6 and # on the keypad while at the same time plug in the power.

5.  --- the printer came on (black squares on the screen) and then shut off.

6. --- was told to power up the printer

7. Printer began checking device(took a long time)

8. Printer began aligning printer (took a long time)

9. Finally finished = Message on screen "Alignment Failed"

10. Still not printing and hours later.

11. They will be replacing printer

12. Then they hit you with that you should buy a set of inkjet cartidges from them at $109.96 -  warranty 2yr, works better, etc.

13. Sent to somebody else to arrange shipping new printer.

14. Free shipping 5-7 days - big deal -  placed my work (home office) on hold.

16.  Service help - listen when it follows the script, otherwise like talking to a door  (In India).

17. Finally get transfered to somebody else and he informs me that he is not authorize to give me a new printer, need to talk to somebody else who is not there.  Advises to call during business hours.  He said that he could request that I be called back but that it could take a 1.5 days to get back to me.

18. I am going to call tomorrow morning during business hours - wish me luck.

I don't know what is awaiting but IN The Future I will not talk to anybody from INDIA - they do not have authority and do not listen (but maybe they don't listen because they can't do anything about it).

Good Luck!!

Only yellow is printing

Put the cartridge head in hot water for a minute, the ink may have clogged the print head.

My HP officejet Pro L7580 doesnot print in black but I can print other colors. What could be the problem. Please help

It's probably a problem with the black/yellow head.
lift the topup to access the heads. if the heads don't move over to the change station area (all the way left as I recall for that unit) press and hold the * until they do.
lift the big blue flap, then the blue handle on the black/yellow head and pull straight up to remove it.
Take a q-tip dampened with bottled water (dampened, not dripping) and clean the CONTACTS area (not the HEAD, just the little round/square copper pads) on the printhead, and disconnect the power from the printer, and clean the printhead contacts in the printer as well.
Without reinserting the head, close up the head access blue flap, and close the printer lid
press and hold the # and the 6 on the keypad. While holding these, reconnect the printer power
wait for a RESET message of some form to appear on the screen, or for the printer to shut back down.
If the printer demands you replace the damaged/missing head, put the printhead back in at that point, but not unless the printer is asking for it!
Once you have released the buttons, turn the printer back on if it shut itself back off.
put the printhead back in when the printer asks for it, if it hasn't already.
The printer will now go through several minutes or whirring and clicking and so forth. Let it.
In the end, it should produce a calibration page.
If the black prints ok, you're done.

If not, you'll heed to replace the black/yellow (K/Y) head.
You can usually get them where you get your ink.

The message reads that there is a printer head problem with my black/yellow, does this mean I just need to replace it or something else on my officejet pro L7580 Thank you Becky

This means that you have a defective printhead. Kind of costly. You might try making sure your individual color cartridges are good. Sometimes, the yellow single cartridge can leak out prematurely and give you these error. Look for the black or yellow cartridge to have a leak of color on the outside. If so...replace that one. Sounds like either the black or yellow is bad though. If not...then one of your master print heads (separate from your individual ones) is defective.

Same as some other complaints at your site about this printer/aio

Your printer does indeed have cartridges...4 in fact, along with 2 printheads. 1 printhead is for Magenta/cyan. The other for Black/yellow.

You know where the printheads are. The ink cartridges are below them. There is a door that pulls down to expose all four.

Here is a link to HP Support for changing your ink cartridges: L7580 Ink Cartridge

Consider XL cartridges...they last much longer.

Also, for reference, here is a link to the User Guide for your printer: L7580 User Guide

Empty ink error message

Hi, its sad to say but the printer sounds that needed to be send to the nearest service center in your area. You already reseat & replace the ink cartridge and issue still present. Please call your printer manufacturer so that they can give you more options aside from sending it to service center. Thank you so much,

Ink system failure

This error code 0xc??????? it is a new trick from HP company to take money for services without real problem in the Printer. Some error is if you exceed 2000 pages printed, or if you live the printer without one of the color ink for more that 5 days, or if you try to put back 2-3 times a old cartridge, or if you use a refilled cartridge, or, or, or, or ...... The only that they do to solve some of this problems is to make reset to the Printer or to insert a software code to erase the message.
