Scrambled picture when cable box is hooked to hdtv plugs on philips 60 inch rear projection tv
When i hook my hdtv cable box to my hdtv jacks on back of tv i get a scrambled picture on all channels. cvi inputs work fine as do all the a/v jacks, just the hdtv jacks dont work.
I have sort of the same problem. If I am connected into the HD AV source in the back of the TV with the component cables, and I have that AV as my source selected, I get sound but all of the channels are scrambled. Has anyone else had this problem? My tv is a Philips HDTV projection.I have sort of the same problem. Same sort of problem......when using the HD jacks the HD signals come in OK, but the rest of the digital pictures come in scrambled.....worked around it by using coaxial input....but it's a nusiance having to change AV inputs when changeing to and from HD programing.....Same sort of problem......when using the HD jacks the HD signals come in OK, but the rest of the digital pictures come in scrambled.....worked around it by using coaxial input....but it's a nusiance having to change AV inputs when changeing to and from HD programing.....

Re: scrambled picture when cable box is hooked to hdtv...
I have had this problem in the past with Comcast. You need to go into the Power off menu (hit menu with the power off on the cable box) change the resolution to 1080I. Good luck.

If set works with games etc via rear audio/video jacks do the same with cable----get a cable box with audio/video etc outputs on it and go from them to ones on the rear of set----no coax connection needed and a better picture.
that input is called DVI digital video interface it is only for video. there should be some red and white composite input jacks for the audio near the DVI connector. you will need to hookup the red and white cables from the tv to the cable box or dvd player or whatver you are using. good luck
It's easiest to hook up the rca plugs, the ones colored red, white and yellow. Run the audio and video out of the player to the audio and video in jacks on the back of the tv.
u need to ask ur cable provider what kine of service u have , not all cable boxes are hd , for ur owner manual just google , some may have this for free
So, You have Five cable leads, The rgb get plugged into there corresponding colors and the other two are your Red and White Audio Input ------Correct? You do not use the in4, that is for a pc with horiz and vert sync. You use input 1 rgb and plug the red and white into the audio input.....your done!
COMP 1 and 2 are for 480i/p sources. Hook it to the 1080i capable on the back. Also make sure the HD DVR is outputting 1080i not 720p. The Mits can not disply 720p and will show a scrambled screen if you try to.
i know this problem, happened to me with the comcast Motorola HD receiver box. The key is with the setting in the cable box.
Switch on the TV.
Set the channel to normal tuner channel 3 or HD input.
Turn off the cable HD box.
Press the Menu Button on the Cable box or the remote.
You should see a Menu.
Use the cursor keys to navigate
The default setup is also one of the option, Right click on your cursor keys acts like the computer keyboard enter key and applies the change.
The default setup is 16:9, the shacking would happen if you have set the picture type to "PAN SCAN". change it to either 16:9 or 4:3 Letter Box. The shacking should stop.
Hope it helps.
