The A430 is a camera, not a battery charger. If you want to use rechargeable batteries then you must use a separate charger. Battery chargers should be available at just about any department, electronics, or office-supply store.

SOURCE: My canon EOS 450D battery loses power within 5mins

If it's an original battery, call Canon, if you've only charged it once, I expect the camera is still under warranty. I've had lots of dealings with Canon Photography, the usually give extremely good customer service.

If it's a cheap one you bought of ebay - that's why!

SOURCE: Canon Powershot A470 - asks to 'change battery'

This happened with my Canon Powershot A470. I sent it back to he manufacturer and they said I was using the wrong batteries. Even though the camera is supplied with two alkaline batteries, they recommend using AA NimH rechargable batteries.

SOURCE: my canon powershot sd 1200 wont turn on.

Hi,
Check whether your batteries are actually making contact with the battery posts, and that these posts are clean. If not, bend the posts up/down a little, and maybe clean them with a little rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip. Or if that does'nt work our for you , if your camera uses Compact Flash, check to make sure all pins are present and aligned in the card slot (if bent, simply unbend/straighten them with a skinny "jewelers" screwdriver, then insert the flash card for final realignment).

Thank you !!

You can use rechargable cells with high current( mA) rating. So try and use any rechargeble cells with above 2000mA . Also you can use a rechargeable adapter externally to charge these cells.

Short battery life

Hi,

If you are experiencing short battery life with a rechargeable batteries try the ff:

  • recondition the battery by draining the battery
  • charge the battery but when it is full reconnect the charger (do this until the charging indicator is not lighting even if you reconnect the charger)
  • try to use other batteries
Thanks
Hope this help

Canon powershot A430 says batteries need changing constantly

Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in a digital camera. Some may also have reached their shelf life, and though right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras that use AA's for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you may see the same recommendation. Keep in mind rechargeable NiMH batteries will save you money in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may be angry with yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Camera Shutting Down

Did this for the same problem on the PowerShot A570 IS and it worked wonderfully (thanks to other poster): For the PowerShot A 430: Take out the batteries, then hold down the power button for 30 seconds or more, then reinstall the batteries. Problem solved!

CANON PowerShot A430 4.0mp Digital Camera eating batteries

The A430 is a 2 battery camera, and is known for being power hungry. Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in a digital camera (especially a 2 battery camera). Lithiums can also have problems. Some may also have reached their shelf life, and though right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you may see the same recommendation. Modern NiMH batteries have over five times the energy concentration of the average alkaline (yep over five times more power!).

Canon camera won't hold it's charge

Hello!

I think I found the soultion.
So when the camera shows that changing battery is needed take those batteries to a discman or hand lamp or any other tool to exhaust the batteries completely. It's necessary becasue the camera can't do it and some charge can remain in the batteries and recharging them in this state leads the batteries to go wrong. So charge them after a total exhaust!
This worked for me.

Peace!

Powershot A430 canon camera battery problem

Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may have reached their shelf life, and though brand new may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Retailers sell these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.
