Carrier Weathermaker 8000...no LED lights on, but breaker is ok. Anything I can check before paying a ton for a service man?

. Several times of recyling power normally brings the furnance up. Though the failure code has always been 31, there are several different behaviour when the blower starts after reset :
a. blower simply creases.
b. there is an attempt to start the heating unit (I hear the high pitch noises), then everything stops.
c. there is an attempt to start the heating unit (I hear the high pitch noises), once I see the orange glow from the coil, normally the gas is lit up and the unit starts working.

1. check indoor unit wiring.
2 check sensar of thermostate.
3if not change thermostate

Is this an up flow system,(vents in the ceiling) or down flow, (vents in the floor?) As always, theres a place to add filters , before the fan on the suction side! No telling how long this been running without the filter and already contaminate the freshair system.. This is supposes to be checked out by the building inspector before you buy any house,Just talk it over with the Realestate Agent , have the full system cleanned and send them the bill or talk to your big brother the BBB! The filter should be located in the front there should be some kind of tab to pull out the filter.

check the filter. If its dirt, clean it, put it back and switch your unit on.
