Toshiba 65hm167 red lights

Well ever since i got my cable installed,my tv 65hm167 has stopped working, you hear the tv click on but screen is black, then it shuts down on its own, then you hear as it is turning itself back on, then i noticed the fashing red light, so i call these people to come fix the problem, and they say it will be a while ( days ) so i get upset and tell them to come pic up their equipment and cancel my service and for them to repair my tv. so i get the run around and the sales guy comes to my home and checks connections, and he said one of the coax cables are bad / not working,so i asked him is that how they install ?? not checking connections before the tech leaves. so now i have to call the damage claims to get this resolved. tv was working fine before they installed the cable and the sales guy knows this because he programmed my tv before they brought out the box,and plus the install tech had to call someone twice from my wifes phone to ask questions on how to install the calbles. plus the antenna plug in the bback of the tv is bent , how ? i dont know. but is there any reset steps i can take to see if its anything, sometimes the tv turns on light is green, but no picture, cant switch sources, and when i had the cable direct into the tv,i heard sound but no picture, then it started to shut itself off then click back on or maybe it was just a clicking noise.let me know if any of you had this same problem, well as far as the tv issues not cable install issues

You will need to trouble shoot the start up and shutdown circuits. Often this is a minor component failing causing the set to not power up or go into protective shutdown. Do you have the service manual for this TV?

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

I have the same problem with a TZ50V51. The power light just blinks. I wish the service manual explained what a blinking power light means. I have removed the Chassie and checked the HOT transistor and it seems to be ok. Anybody have any clues ??

Something is causing the TV shut down or go in to 'protect' mode.
It is unusual to actually hear a component inside the TV go bad, but you obviously did. Probably in the main power supply or something that normally uses a higher voltage in the TV since you heard it..

Yellow light blinking on tv will now come on

If you are refering to the 3 yellow blinks repeated over and over the
boot data is corrupted. Download the firmware update(link below)from Toshiba and unzip the files and folders, copy the unzipped files & folders to a SD card (like a camera uses,I used a 2 gig). Unplug the tv and insert the card into the slot hidden behind the cover above the HDMI inputs. Plug in the tv and watch the yellow blinking stop and a solid blue will light when done. Unplug the tv, remove the card, plug in the tv and all will be good. You could now install the update per it's instructions.

I have a toshiba 65hm167 no red color on the screen

Your TV is a DLP one lamp does it all, not like the old projection TVs with the Red, Green & Blue CRTs. Your TV may have a bad light engine or lose cable connections.

Good luck

Toshiba 65hm167 black screen with video input

That is correct, if the lamp was bad then you will not see a picture at all. The fact that you are getting menu means the lamp is good and most likely the processor and light engine are also okay. Check other inputs to see if you have the same problem on all the inputs.
