Follow the on screen procedure, it will verify your identity, at the end you might get lucky again to reset the password.

Your password can't be reset online.

1. Go to the Yahoo mail sign in page at:

2. Enter your yahoo user id then click on the blue link that reads : I cannot access my account.

3 This will take you through a sign in wizard. Select the problem you are having, click next.

4. Then you enter you yahoo id and the code you see-click next.

Contact Yahoo and explain to them what has happend. Someone stole your password. They will ask you some questions to verify your identity. Once that is verified they will help you reset your password.
