Sounds like there's blockage between rollers and it also jams the sensor so auto function stops working. You will need to clear out as much jammed paper as you can using tweezers. Inspect the centre of the feed opening, there should be sensor which must be clear of blockages and moving freely. So clear any stuck paper with tweezers, in addition you can soak any jammed paper with WD-40 and unit should be good as new. Although if sensor arm is damaged then replacement of such sensor is unavoidable.

Testimonial: "I have the unit open now and no paper is visible anywhere!"

What model or industry part number of ir sensor do i search for to fix my Omnitech paper shredder? It's a model:OT-EXC10A

What you see with one sensor dark and one sensor clear is correct. Try cleaning the sensors with a cotton swab and a touch of rubbing alcohol. Chances are the sensor is dirty or may have a scratch on it. If cleaning doesn't help then replacing the sensors is your next step.

Omnitech shredder ot-nxc10pa

You must first unplug it and look inside the shredding blades, especially around the spot usually near the center, where there is a pressure button. When paper hits it, it starts shredding. Chances are some pieces of paper have jammed just over it stopping paper from hitting it and switching it on. I have had to use long tweezers to work the jammed bits out... Once clear it will work again. Also using shredder oil every 50 sheets through will help it cut easier , and jam less frequently. Do not put too many sheets through together in a bunch. No staples...

My shredder runs non stop, when I insert paper to shred , it stops... I push reverse, it works , pull paper out and runs non stop.......

Sounds like a bad or stuck sensor, acting as if it is always seeing a peice of paper in it. Check if you can find it and maybe it is just stuck to the on position..

I just bought the Omnitech 10 Sheet Cross Cut Shredder. Is it safe to shred papers with staples in them?

I don't have that model but have an 8 page cheapo shredder. It takes CDs, credit cards and staples with no whining.
