Thanks for that, just working through the process now. One question: Should I also unistall the 3 instances of 'SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller' that are currently sitting under 'Universal Serial Bus contollers'?

  • zlyman Oct 03, 2007

One small problem, after I delete all this I am unable to use the keyboard and therefore cannot press 'del' to enter bios settings...

I have had to let it boot up completely so that I'm able to use keyboard again. Do I need to change the process now?

  • zlyman Oct 03, 2007

I may be ahead of the game, I've already bought a powered USB 2.0 port... we'll see.

Seems to have done the trick - you're a star, thanks

    Hi again,

Yes pls do. Windows will auto re-install upon reboot.

  • Anonymous Oct 03, 2007

The first reboot will not allow the use of any USB device (including the keyboard). But thereafter you are assured that your USB has just been reinstalled with presumably correct drivers by your OS. Just let it run its course.

Btw, pls don't expect 100% compatibility with the Belkin. If you will notice on the referred post, the final solution after so many days of configuring was to buy a another one.

I mean a PCI USB port (not the wifi)

Installed belkin Surf USB but it is unable to get Ip address from bt hub tried uninstalling and reinstalling no change

there is a button on the bt hub with the wireless sign on it, press it to allow the usb device to connect. You onlt need to to do this once its a security measure to stop anyone logging into your wireless network. Also it will only stay allowable for connections for a short period of time. But as i have said you only need to do it once to allow the new computer to connect.

Trying to create a bridge with two routers

You do not need a bridge if you are using a wireless adaptor on your pc in the other room. Just set up the Belkin Plus router to the WEP security settings you want and make sure the pc wireless usb adaptor has the same settings as the router. You should be good to go. Good Luck.

HP printer will not print over wireless network using Belkin hub

Try turning everything off, wait a couple of seconds and then turn it back on.  Also try disabling McAffee to test.  When you go to printers and faxes on the PC, what is the status of your printer?

Restored factory settings on pc & cant re -instal belkin adaptor

The Belkin site has very specific instructions for installing this adapter in a pc with Vista. These instructions are at: http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D9050&aid=6112&scid=0
I would first unistall any Belkin Software that has already been installed, shut down the system completely and then restart. After you have fully restarted the system then follow the Belkin Site instructions EXACTLY. Any variation is apt to mean an unsuccessful install. Good Luck and have patience.

Belkin Network USB hub

hi dear

I've not had any issues like you described using the in-built Windows
wireless client. So my suggestions involves removing the Belkin software and
retrying with the built-in software:

1. Try and uninstall the Belkin client software
2. Check to see if the WZCSVC service is running
You can check this by issuing the following command:
a) net start
b) sc query wzcsvc

Both command should list some info about WZCSVC (Wireless Zero
Configuration) if it is running.

3. If your wireless card is installed successfully, you should see a
antenna-type icon in the system tray.
If not, you need to install the drivers for the card manually. Check
the Belkin CD for drivers.

4. If you can see your new router's SSID (wireless name) then you should be
able to see it as a non-admin as well.

5. Failing all of this, retry the Belkin client software and its
documentation for indication on non-admin issues or ways to use the above
mentioned Windows wireless client.

Can not identify Belkin N1 Wireless USB Adaptor on PC

Hi, A couple of things: 1. Have you tried all the USB ports of your desktop PC (front and back)? 2. What is your desktop PC brand/model or at least the motherboard? and What OS please?; 3. If running Windows in the desktop PC, can you please check in your Device Manager if your USB are 2.0? 4. Are you using a USB hub or directly connected to the PC's USB port? Hope this be of some idea/help. Pls post back with your desktop brand/model/motherboard. Good luck and kind regards.

Belkin N1 Wireless Adaptor not connecting on PC

what the adviser meant was your pc cannot provide enough power to the usb port to power the unit, assuming you have tried other ports and it still wont work; you will need to either purchase a pci usb 2.0 card adapter or purchase a mains powered usb hub and connect to this instead.

Failed to install

Belkin drivers are a bit of a pain, uninstall the drivers again and remove the usb adapter, and follow exactly as per instructions, normally driver first, but ignore the pop up about the driver not being a signed windows if it does, just click install anyway. toward the end of the installation you should be prompted to connect the usb adapter, the hardware should be found and then the installation should complete. If driver installed ok but the adapter cant find the the driver plug it into a different usb port and again the found hardware should pop up then install driver popup should show and you should select install automatically.
