I would speculate that you may have faulty capacitors in the power supply section.

OK this is a classic switchmode power supply problem There is a fault either IN the SMPSU, OR in another part of the set, usually a short circuit. The PS, is "Shutting Down" for safety reasons, so as to avoid a possible fire, explosion etc. You really need to have this looked at by a qualified person. before you get any work done, always ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding. This is very common.

SOURCE: My Philips flat screen tv

It could be a power supply problem. In this model at least 2 capacitors, go bad in the power supply I think they're 1000uf/10V. If you look at the power supply board you will notice a bad cap with a blister on the top. The whole power board is from $100 - $200. I fixed a lot of these sometime the Y or sustain board goes bad. Visual inspection then measuring voltages..
Best of luck

Plasma tvs do not have "back lights" LCDs do. you probably have a bad driver board along with the upper or lower buffer board or maybe both, best to have a tv shop look at it.

If turning the TV on and off makes no difference, try contact Phillips to see if they can talk you through a factory reset. If this does not work, the set may require service.
