I have a sharp AL1631 that will not start printing a page until it has fed the page about halfway through. This leaves the top of the copied page blank and cuts of the bottom of whatever I'm trying to copy. There is no evidence that the page is getting stuck somewhere and no error codes.
Sometimes the originals hesitate using the document feeder, which can cause the problem you are describing. Do you get the same rsults if you lay the original on the glass?
The registration roller is probably spinning continously, which is controlled by a solenoid an electrical device inside the rear cover of the machine. A spring loaded plate on the solenoid popped out of place and needs to be reseated. The registration roller is the roller inside the right side door on the bottom just below the drum unit.
Good luck

It isn't quite as bad, but I do have the same problem if I use the
flatbed. (maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the page lost.)
