Yes, it can be replaced. Can be ordered from Black & Decker. Some people would say it's worth fixing others would not. Don't know cost of battery -- probably under $20.

Even if it can be replaced, I found that a dead battery sometimes damages the power plug / charger / adapter plug attached to the base. You can check this with a simple AC meter. If you don't read about 15VAC across the two metal tabs on the base, the adapter is either weak or dead. This means that even if you were to replace the battery, it's not going to be charged properly. In that case, the power plug simply needs to be replaced with a 15VAC adapter that can supply at least 130mA (original should have the voltage and amperage requirements embossed on it). Note that it just needs to be an AC (not DC) adapter in the general ballpark of 15 to 16 VAC (i.e. this is not picky digital electronics!). My various charger bases (I had 3) seem to use several slightly different adapter ratings, all for the same CHV9600. Cut off the old adapter, splice the wires to the new one (doesn't matter which wire is which, since it's AC) [preferably solder the connections, but a good inch or so of twisted wire will also work for a long time -- maybe use a small wire nut in that case] and cover with electrical tape. The power plug may get slightly warm (especially when charging a very discharged unit), but it should not get hot -- if it does, I'd just replace the dustbuster and charger.

My Quest 700 goes about 10 feet and stops. Red light blinks and after a few minutes the unit shuts off. I've put it on charger several times.

After multiple charge attempts, if the unit does not power the vac beyond a brief period, either the vac is draining the battery too quickly due to a short, but more likely, the battery has failed and needs to be replaced. Depending on the age and condition of the vac, it may be more economical to replace the vac with a new model.

Dyson v6: It looks like it stopped charging.

If it's only 2 weeks old, you could have a defective either charging system or just a bad battery. Most places offer free replacement within 30 days of purchase. I would take it back to your place of original purchase. I hope that helps!

Charge light won't stay on and therefore won't charge

It could not be making good contact with the charger.Check the contacts on the unit and the charger-sometimes the connectors get bent or something is stopping the circuit to complete. Wiggle the device while it is on charge and try to make the light stay on.

We ran our Platinum Series 18 volt hand vac until it stopped -- charged the battery overnight but it did not charge. is there a problem with the battery charger or what could cause this?

Most problems with what you have stated have to do with bad contacts between the hand held unit and the battery charger. With the charger unplugged, make sure the contacts on both the charger and hand held unit are clean and not bent. Check to see what the "Light Indicator" should be when charging and reinsert the unit into the charger. If the light does not show what it is supposed to show, move the hand held unit around a bit to see if you can make the connection better.
If this does not do the job, depending on the age of the unit, might be time to replace the battery.

Won't recharge. very weak.

Hello,

If you know that the charger is actually working and supplying the correct voltage. Then the age of the unit would suggest that the battery is exhausted and it would be cheaper to replace the whole unit.

Hope this was a help.

There are screws in the handle of it, the battery is also in the "Base" handle simply locate all the screws, and unclip the case halves with a flat blade, and the battery is inside.

How long am i suppose to charge my vac?

If your battery is not holding a charge, then you will need to replace the battery. Unless the charger isn't working, but usually it is the battery.
