SOURCE: i need to import video from my canon zr500 to my pc

Hi!

You can import videos from your camcorder to your PC using a DV cable. Check this page from the user guide of your camcorder.

Basically, you need a firewire port and a DV cable. Most computers (new ones) already have firewire ports (or 1394 ports).

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!

SOURCE: No DV output from Canon GL2. Using a firewire

Was the tape your trying to import recorded on the camera you are trying to import from? I've noticed that sometimes the tape I recorded on my old Panasonic won't show up on my GL2. It's like it's a blank tape, but I know it's not, as I have it labeled. Stick it back into the panasonic and it plays fine.

SOURCE: I can't upload video from my Canon GL1

first off make sure you are positively connected to computer via usb. then make sure your drivers are updated. then see if it connects. also note that your camera screen may say "would you like to connect to usb port?" make sure if that does appear that you hit yes. best of luck!

Need assistance transferring video to imac

The Panasonic PV-GS12 will transfer video in video record mode and video playback mode using the DV connection (IEEE) Firewire port. PC Mode is restricted to memory card access via USB. If after connecting it in this manner if it does not work try this. With everything connected via firewire and iMovie running. switch the camera to PC mode and the import window should pop up. You may get a comunications error and if you do then switch to playback mode. The import window should stay open and you can control your camera with the iMovie controls.

Canon xl2 will not take the tape it says remove tape in viewfinder.camera is dry whats going on here

Canon XL series will indicate "remove tape" sign when the head does not read the data when inserted. You probably have clogged head and probably needs cleaning. Depending on the condition of the clogged head, you can try by running head cleaning tape for about 10 sec. If that does not resolve, it shoud be cleaned and adjusted by trained technicians. Good Luck. If need a professional help, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

Importing Video to a Mac

XL2s are notorious for issues in interacting with final cut.
Simply put, sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. But - there's a way around it.
Change the capture settings preset to 'non-controllable device'. Use the shuttle controls on top the handle of the XL2 to play back the footage as you wish. when you want to capture, click 'Capture Now' - It should do the trick.
