IBM Thinkpad T30 wont boot up

Hi there. I have a Thinkpad T30 which has been very good and reliable. Its probably around 5 years old now. Over the past week it wont boot up. I get either nothing on screen, and just the light next to he power button going. All he lights start when I press the power button. The only noise I get is the fan apart from the hard drive trying to start. I pulled the hard drive out and put it in a portable USB hard drive unit, and the drive seems to work when viewed on a diff laptop. I occassionally get the IBM logo come up, and also the press F1 or F8 (I think), but most times the screen stays blank. Is anyone able to suggest what I can do please? Thanks

You have faulty RAM modules. Reseat your RAM modules, to make sure they make proper connection. If this doesn't work take them to your friendly computer shop and ask them to test them for you.

you can go to the BIOS setting? if you can, look for "Boot Device Priority" or something like that,it's usually placed on Advanced settings. Set the first boot device as your harddisk, save the settings and restart your computer

Can a nx9110 charger /ac adapter work on an ibm thinkpad t30

Thefollowing three conditions should be met for you to use a charger safely. 1)Output Voltage is within +/- 5% of your old charger's output.
For example, ifyour old charger provides 19.5V, then you can use a charger that provides 20.5Vor 18.5V.
2) Output Current is the same or higher than that of your old charger.
For example, ifyour original adapter provides 3.42 Amps, then you can use a charger thatprovides 3.42 Amps, 3.9 Amps or higher.
3) Connector tip must fit securely into your laptop. Pleasecheck carefully before using nx9110 adapter on t30.

My ibm thinkpad t30 boots up but my monitor is blank

Do you hear any startup sound when you turn it on? If there is, try hooking an external monitor. If it has good display, replace LCD, if not then it may be a videocard problem. possible motherboard replacement will resolve this issue.

IBM T30 won't boot with LCD, but will boot OK with external eonitor

It means computer developed oxide on some contact, and this is causing a short that forces unit to shut down, laptop must be taken apart, dried properly, and eventually cleaned with circuit cleaning solution.
If problem stops when you turn to external display, then probably it is water or oxide in LCD ribbon cable connectors.

IBM Thinkpad T30 2367 beeps 8 times

Hi,
It's your memory, or more to the point, the memory slots. take all memory out, install 1 piece in the slot closest to the back of the laptop, push down on the memory as if pushing it into the motherboard, and hold pressure while booting.
Bet that works. if not, let me know.
I've got the same machine.
Good luck
