My download speed for both torrent and direct is very slow

If you have slow internet speed Try with some of the basic tips for faster and better internet connection,
* Check the Start up programs and remove the unwanted
* Maintain a Decent Space limit at Hard drive
* Check for Malware, Spyware and bots
* Clear cookies and temporary history files
* Close unwanted background tasks if any
* Reset the modem
* Check the wirings
* Browse with latest and updated browser
* Download using torrents
* Upgrade your hardware

Have you tried connecting directly to your modem?

you can use some steps to maintain good speed or increase download speed if it's very slow than normal speed.
>Reset the modem or router everyday twice
>use anti virus software and internet security protection
>You can install torrent for downloading and uploading anything
>You can use latest Browser for browsing..Opera,Google Chrome,Mozilla Firefox are best browsers..
>Avoid Multiple Downloading
These will helps to speed up your downloading,Uploading speed.

If you are paying for a downlink speed of 384 Kbps you should be getting at lease around 300. First bypass your router - connect your cable/DSL ethernet line directly from the modem to your PC. Go to http://www.auditmypc.com/internet-speed-test.asp run the speed test and see what your download speed is.

If it's less than 300 call your service provider & ask them to check out your line. If they say that you are getting 300 Kbps or more, you have a problem with the ethernet card in your PC. Replace it.

Of course, if your speed is OK when you bypass the router, you have a router problem. Contact the manufacturer or replace it.

what are you using as a router? is it just recently getting slower? If it is recent:
-check to make sure no one else is on your network
-call your internet company (some do have caps that they will put on you if it is used too much..the sly dogs)
-check your task manager to make sure there are no crazy apps in the background sucking your juice
-if you are torrenting then pause them while browsing... torrents will slow you down majorly

To find out youre internet speed;
www.speedtest.net
(make sure you dont have any applications that use youre internet. this is to get the correct speed)

You can set a limit for what the torrent can download for.

Downloading torrents is usually very slow. . but you can do these steps to increase its speed to certain extend. . 
While downloading a torrent just see how much seeds it has & select the which have the maximum. You can also sort it in decreasing order of seeds by clicking the seeds. The speed of downloading torrent changes with time most of them gets speed up in noon or even at midnight. If you still need help mention the game(bcoz it might be a very famous game)
