Calculating IRR on a Sharp EL-531W scientific calculator

I belive this will fix the problem i was sitting here having the same deal waiting and waiting..then bam error 7 then i fixed it so thought i would put what i did.

go into your CF and delete all the unused CO times..for instance if your using 3 periods...delete all CF05 and F05 the last one should be C04=0 and F04=0 make sure your NPV is the same after messing around..then try to compute IRR popped up in 2 seconds for me.

for the mean, just add them together and divide answer by the amount of figures you put in. as for the others, i'm not sure a standard scientific calculator will do that

This calculator does not have a program to which you give the equation, and which returns the solutions. Sorry. You have to use the formulas you learned.
Let the equation be ax^2 +bx+c=0
You compute the discriminant Callit disc.
disc= (b^2-4*a*c)
1. If discriminant is larger than zero you have two solutions. Let us call them x1 and x2.
Then x1=(-b+square root of disc)/(2*a)
and x2= (-b-square root of disc)/(2*a)

2. If disc=0 , square root of disc =0 and x1=x2=-b/(2*a)
3. If disc is negative, there are no real solutions.

To find the solutions you replace a, b, and c by their numerical values, to calculate disc, its square root, and calculate X1 and X2.

SOURCE: Dow to get complex mode in EL-531W

This calculator has no Complex calculations feature. You cannot therefore enable it.The only solution is to get a calculator that has this function.
