Acer AL2416W 24 in. LCD Television Logo

Light comes on, no power to montior...

I just got this monitor and the light for the power turns on, it flashes "ACER" on the screen for about a second but does not display anything after that. (Yes it's plugged in correctly!) Any insight on this would be so helpful, I've contacted Acer's Technical Support and have been waiting for a response for about 2 weeks now :( Thanks, ~Brian

I seem to be having the same trouble and I have tried other monitors using the cables and still getting nothing

  • Sloaner Mar 21, 2008

Sorry that did not come out the right way....on my first post. I have tried other monitors with the same cable and they have worked fine. I left my monitor on over night and then when I tried it in the morning it was just blank. Pressing the power button gives me the "ACER" logo and then goes blank. Any kind of information on this problem would be appreciated. I would like to repair it if it is somewhat reasonable for a fix.

I have had this monitor for a period of time, and it just suddenly behave this way for no reason
    please advise

Same thing happens for me. The light stays green, the acer logo flashed and then it goes blank (no backlight or anything). When the acer logo flashes, it seems a bit dark. Maybe a problem with the lamp?

  • Anonymous Apr 24, 2008

Same here; It seems to sense the video signal - since the status lamp remains green. Replace the monitor w/spare; using original cables - the new monitor works fine. I seem to recall a similar problem, about 9 months ago with another Acer we have here. Powered it down, and then back On again took care of the problem - didn't think anything of it at the time. :(

Just like everyone else, my screen says acer and then on bootup will say gateway then it goes black and says no signal. I plugged it into my tablet and swtiched screens and it came right on. I'm thinking it might be my video card.

  • Anonymous Jul 27, 2008

Same problem as the above cases. The monitor flashes a brief "Acer" before going completely black. The power light stays green, but nothing is displayed on screen. I'm using the AL2416W as a secondary monitor to my laptop, and I thought it was a fluke loose cable when I first saw it yesterday (after which it worked fine the rest of the day). But this morning I've come across the same problem. I've tried the monitor with a different computer, and the same problem persists, which makes me think there's something wrong with the Acer itself.

same problem as above, has no one found the problem yet?

  • Anonymous Sep 09, 2008

So I assume the light goes Orange after the Acer screen?

First thing I thought was if cable plugged in right, I have SLi on my pc and I stupidly ended up plugging mine into my second card because of the angle I looking at the back from.

Try your previous monitor again... make sure you use the same DVI cable you are using at the moment, if that monitor doesn't work either then try another DVI cable, especially if you have swapped to the new cable upon buying this monitor.

I have this same monitor and it just came straight on for me with no hassles so doubt is manufacturing fault.

  • Anonymous Apr 25, 2009

After posting my problem in this thread, I sent my Acer back in its original packaging with a copy of my receipt to Acer Technical Service. It still had a year left on its warranty (out of the original three years), and so I figured they would repair it. Much to my delight, they actually did. It took almost 3 weeks, and there was no email notification during the repair period (even though I asked about the status of my monitor once), and just when I was giving up hope, a big box arrived on my front doorstep. The note inside said:

"Enclosed you will find your unit which was sent to us for service. It has been thoroughly tested and repaired.
Repair Comments: Performed repair on customer unit.
Description: Inverter Board AA668 24TBD292LF..."

So it looks like the problem was an inverter board, which they replaced. I plugged the monitor up to my laptop again and it's been working fine all day. It was a bit hard to get in touch with Acer about the problem at first, and during the repair, but in the end they followed through and repaired the product free of charge.

Same problems exactly.

I originally had different video issues, sent the thing back THREE TIMES, and finally they replaced it with a refurbished model. NOW, I'm having the problems you guys described above ONE day after I got the replacement.

It seems to work until theres the slightest touch on the cables behind then it blacks out and won't come back to life.

I'm on my seventh hour on the phone in total dealing with Acer on this. They refuse to accept there's known problems with this model, and argued with me when I mentioned your reports that the percentage is too low to be significant enough to warrant anything.

NOW, they want me to send this one back for repair, after just getting it yesterday.

DO NOT BUY ACER, their product is garbage.

I have had this monitor for a year and a half. In that time, this issue... the acer logo to blank to amber and no power at all have occured. The first was a faulty inverter and the second was the power board according to Acer. I have since had two more issues with this monitor and am now using a brand new one supplied by Acer due to all my problems. However, getting to this point required a little over 18 hours of pulling teeth with the CSR's at acer and well into the hundreds of dollars in shipping.

My latest of the AL2416W monitor's from Acer is giving me problems too, on it's first day (hence why I'm here). My advice is to stay far, far away from Acer. And if you do feel like gambling, hope and pray you don't have to deal with their customer service. It is, bar none the worst I have ever experienced.

Strangely enough I've had this problem occur JUST this morning as well.

The monitor light stays green and will go amber if I disable the monitor via windows software.. (Luckily I have a 2 monitor setup...)

Windows sees it, but the display is just black. Tried moving it to other systems, no success. Suspect this is just HOW these die...

The inverter part or the display controller is messed up. I think there is some problems with internal circuitry not loose connections.

Monitor is slow coming on then when on website clicking out of second tab flashes black

1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.

Computer monitor wont turn on when you hold the power button a small orange light turns on. What is wrong?!

CONNECT THE MONITOR DIRECTLY TO THE WALL OUTLET
CHECK WHETHER YOU GET CHECK AUDI SIGNAL OR NOT OR ANY MESSAGE---HTEN CHECK FOR THE CABLE---IF STILL THE ISSUE PERSISTS CHECK IT WITH A DIFFERENT CABLE---
THEN CONNECT IT TO THE COMPUTER MAKE IT SURE THE COMPUTER IS TURNED ON AND THE POWER IS GIVEN TO THE MONITOR AS WELL----CHECK THE COMPUTER WITH ANOTHER MONITOR---IF THE OTHER MONITOR IS WORKING FINE THEN CONNECT YOUR MONITOR TURN IT ON AND THEN FLASH A FLASH LIGHT OR TORCH LIGHT AND THEN SEE IF YOU CAN SEE A DISPLAY INSIDE..
WHILE CHECKING FOR ALL THESE STEPS YOUR ISSUE WILL BE RESOLVED IF NOT TYOU GOTTA CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER FOR A FAULTY MONTIOR---

STEPS IN BRIEF:
DO A MONITOR SELF TEST
CHECK FOR THE LIGHTS
CHECK FOR THE CABLE
CHECK FOR THE PHYSICAL SIGNAL
PUT THE MONTIOR ON A DIFFERENT COMPUTER AND CHECK
CONNECT THE COMPUTER WITH A DIFFERENT MONITOR AND CHECK
FLASH A FLASH LIGHT AS A LAST STEP TO SEE A DISPLAY
IF THE ISSUE IS NOT RESLOVED THE MONITOR IS FAULTY..
HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!

I have no picture on my flat screen montior im using a older montior and its works

If the monitor light comes on but you get an "out of range" message, you'll have to start the computer in "VGA mode". Probably your video card is set to a resolution that the monitor won't display.
Just a thought, as you didn't say anything but you don't have a picture.
If this doesn't work, check the power and cord and video cable before you declare it dead.

Acer aspire one will not work.

Hi,

If you get a post screen with Acer written on it at startup, and the screen turns off when loading the system (Windows or Linux), then you need to reinstall the system using an external USB cd unit and the recovery disk that was provided with your Acer.

If instead the display has no screen at all , try connecting an external monitor to test the laptop.

If you get picture on external monitor, then the Aspire One has a faulty LCD ribbon cable or a faulty LCD display or inverter.

If you get no picture on external screen , then you have a faulty motherboard, possibly faulty video chipset on motherboard.

In any case check your Acer One warranty, all the faults listed are covered by Acer warranty for one year.
Contact Acer at the number listed on documentation to have the computer repaired.

Montior

Sounds like another Power supply/ inverter board problem. If you know electronics you'll have to tear it apart and repair it. I hope it's still under warranty. Hope this helps.
