Run some carburetor cleaner through it first. Go to autozone, etc, and pick up some fuel system cleaner you can put directly in the tank and run it through.
All you need to do is remove the rubber boot that covers the spark plug. This is the wire that transmits the current to the plug. This just pulls off. Once you expose the spark plug you get a deep socket to fit in around the spark plug. Probably a 5/8th, could be bigger. Turn it counter clock wise, pull out and replace. Done deal. There are spark plug sockets that have a retaining gasket in it that holds the spark plug as you pull it out but not necessary.
dosent really matter as long as its the same size and length ( start with short one and make sure enchine moves smoothly when pulling cord (avoid piston hitting spark plug. you can measure with a pencil when piston is top dead centre
The choke reduces the air flow into the carb. If you are having problems with the choke off, it means that not enough fuel is getting into the engine and it is running lean. When you choke it, the reduced air flow causes the mixture to be correct and it runs fine.
