Know its a year later, but I have the manual, and will look through it if still interested. Just wondering why you would be replacing the handles? I have this refrgerator and it has held up well and really have no problems or complaints,...except for those darn handles! They work perfectly, but the white began to slowly wear off soon after I bought it,...revealing an unsightly beige rubber color. I've even resorted to spray painting the handles,...a very time consuming process, just taping all around them. It would last and look good for a few months,...but then it was back to that beige, rubbery worn off look again. Would love to swap out the handles for some new ones,...just wondering if you are or were having the same complaint with this model's handles
Your best bet is probably to find something to attach to the wall to catch the door handle before the rest of the door contacts the wall. I have noticed such door stops in hotels. They appear to be made of rubber, gray in color, and are about two inches wide. I don't recall seeing such things in stores (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.), but they are probably there.
you should check out www.applianceart.com, they have vinyl and magnetic solutions that can cover your appliance in a new color or pattern. They even have a stainless steel option for refrigerators too.
Spray with clorox all purpose cleaner and scrub it with hot or warm damp wash cloth. If the handles are plastic, Krylon makes an excellent line of spray
paint products that bonds to plastic and adheres to the surface. Most
spray paint products only coat the plastic and on a surface like a
handle that will be used constantly, is easily scratched or peeled. The
Krylon plastic paint bonds to the plastic surface and is very durable.
The one down side is if you paint the handles and don't like the
results, there is no going backwards, you can't remove the paint once
it has cured.
The brillant person posted the perfect solution. We just tried it this weekend. The plastic composite on the handles is not UV protected plastic, so it yellows or turns brown over time. You can't clean it, as it's a defect due to light exposure. We downloaded a diagram of our fridge and learned how to take off the handles. The top and bottom white portions pop off, but be careful when doing so. We gently lifted them off the metal backing and put a butter knife underneath so we would not damage the plastic. You can then see the clips that hold them in place. Gently pry them and they will pop out. You have to remove the top and bottom pieces first then it will expose the screws that hold the handles in place. You need a star type screwdriver-we found one at Home Depot. The metal strip is a simple backing and will just stay in place. Now, the key is the Krylon Fusion paint-Satin White, like the one person wrote. It's for plastic. Clean off the handles and make sure they are dry. Tape off the portions you don't want paint on and spray them outside with the paint. It dries quickly, but we waited about 8 hrs to put them back on. Just put them back on with the handles first and then the top and bottom portions-they cover the screws. Ours now look brand new! Cost? Only $6.50 for the can of paint and we got it at Walmart. If we had to replace them w/new handles? About $175. Thank you to whomever it was that shared this idea. It really works!
