SOURCE: It doesn't take pictures...

Here is the link for the user manual for your camera if you need it; http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=322&modelid=9824 Although it doesn't appear to describe your error. There are three possible causes for the symptoms you describe: 1. The shutter has jammed in the closed position - usually you will get unusual mechanical noises if this is the case, although not always - sometimes this can be fixed by gently slapping the camera, or gently vibrating it by putting it on top of a washing machine on a spin cycle (put it on a cloth to soften the vibration a little and make sure the camera doesn't fall off). If this doesn't work after a few seconds then it is unlikely that this is the problem. 2. The CCD has failed - this is the bit that light falls on inside that converts it into a digital signal - these can be replaced but it is a job for a qualified technician. This is the most likely cause of the problem as you have all the icons present on the screen which indicates that the control processor is working fine. 3. The circuit that takes the signal from the CCD, processes it and transmits it to the LCD screen may be faulty, also replaceable but also a qualified technicians job - this is more unlikely as these rarely fail on the S1, and there should usually be an error message on the screen if this was the case. For Canon service details you need to go to this link; http://www.canon.com/ select your region and country and follow the site through to "support" or similar (depends on your location) they will direct you to your nearest service centre. You should also be able to find out warranty information if you think that the camera is still under warranty. Hope this helps, please post back if you need more assistance :)

SONY DSC-T1 CAMERA WHEN TURNED ON PREVIOS PICTURE SHOW UP FINE ON THE VIEW SCREEN BUT WHEN THE THE SELECT MODE SWITCH IS MOVED TO EITHER TAKE A NEW PICTURE OR TO MOVIE MODE THE VIEW SCREEN IS MOSTALLY...

Hi,

Based on the information you've provided it seems that the CCD Image Sensor of the Camera is affected. If the CCD Image Sensor is affected, the images captured may be discolored or with lines on it. Even if the CCD is affected, the previously captured images and icons of the Camera will display normally. You may try power resetting the Camera.

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.
Also try resetting the Camera back to factory default: The RESET button is located at the lower right side of the control button. To reset the camera just press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.
If the issue remains the same, then service may be required.

Thanks for using FixYa.

All of the icons are still visible, but otherwise, the screen of my t99 is showing up blank. The camera still takes pictures, but the photos are black and so is the display. Please help! No temperature...

Hi,

This may be due to the CCD Image Sensor failure in the Camera.
To confirm the issue, please check if the previously captured images are displaying normally. The previously captured images and icons will get displayed normally if the CCD image sensor issue is there in the Camera.
If this happens only with the live view, then try Initializing the Camera.

The Initialize option can be done only if the Menu of the Camera is accessible. To access Initialize select MENU-->SETTINGS-->MAIN SETTINGS-->INITIALIZE-->OK.

You may also try power resetting the camera. To power reset the Camera, remove the batteries from the Camera and then press and hold the POWER BUTTON of the Camera for 15 seconds and then reinsert the batteries after 1 minute and check if the Camera works normally.

If the issue is not resolved after resetting, service may be required.

Thanks for using FixYa.

LCD Display Blank

I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback as well.

I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito, Ecuador)

Blank screen while taking pictures

Sure this is a clear case of faulty CCD sensor if you can play back captured images ok. Parts and labor will set you back by +- $ 200 if you have it done professionally.

Blank black screen for my canon powershot S1 IS digital camera

This is a common problem with S1 IS and it is caused by faulty CCD sensor. Note that you can playback captured images without any problem but in capture mode all you get is blank screen. Will have to go to Canon but note that Canon repairs these models free of charge when it is the CCD sensor that stops working.

Canon A520 Everything works, except the button you take pictures with. It wont work.

I need more information about what symptoms you are experiencing. I am going to guess that your shutter is stuck closed. This would cause a blank image to show on the view screen and your captured pictures. The regular icons and text would still display normally. Is this what you are seeing? If not please explain further what is happening and I will respond again with more information. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
