It sounds like the element is missing one side of the 240v power. One side may always be hot while other side is controlled. A qualified repairman can Start at the element and work backwards. Trace wiring back looking for burned wire, bad connections and connectors, all the way back to thermostat. Check thermostat for continuity (with power off), replace thermostat if necessary.
Testimonial: "Thanks Jim for your help. I ended finding out what the problem was. What I thought was only one oven door micro switch was actually two(2) separate micro switches joined together. One is for the oven light and the other is for when the oven is heating. This micro switch stops the internal fan and cooking element when someone opens the door. This micro switch was burn't out and stopping the heating element from operating. Thanks again."

thermostat must be getting a blast of cold air from the door being opened.

Two things sharyn, first check the breakers. It is possible that one of two that control the stove tripped...they are in tandem. Shut them off and back on. If no fix: You'll have to remove and test the element. (if more than one element is involved here...it might be the thermostat) Breakers off, pull the element out and have someone take an ohm meter and test the unit. Still no good? Then it will be the thermostat or relay. Let me know what you find.

Before you change anything try the broiler circuit. If the broiler works then it could be an element if not then you could have a problem with the oven thermostat.

first of all the yellow/orange light glowing is a known fault. it needs a slight wiring modification to fix it, however it dose not affect the operation of the oven nor is it dangerous.
now to the heating problem, there is a round element at the rear witch surrounds the fan. is this element getting hot? if not then it most likely needs replacing. it could be the thermostat but more likely the element.

There is no doubt that it is the element that has failed, so all you need to do is replace the fan oven element.
If you can see a removable panel at the rear of the oven ,remove that, and you should see the element.
Remove and replace.
If ther is no removable panel then you will have to access it from the rear of the oven cabinet.
Plz rate my solution.

Thanks Andrew. I think I have the same problem. Can you point me to instructions on replacing the switch? mozzie4 at gmail dot com. Thanks
Hi Andrew. Again many thanks as I had the same problem and yes the micro switch was burned closed I was about to buy the temp control switch as 1 spade term is also burned. I would not had found that without your post.
A suggestion to all replace the burned spade and solder the wires as this may create a hot spot being just crimped. "(From years of micro switch and wiring loom connectors.)"
1 contact on the micro switch, badly burned all insulated material was destroyed, this is the case on the spade insulators on both switches. So I need to re-insulate spades. I am thinking insulation tap will not be sufficient So what happened to that old Bakelite material it withstood heat better than plastic.
