my printer says that because it cannot determine the ink level, it can't recognize the cartridge

Have you tried another cartridge? The refilled cartridge may be damaged.

Thank you, but Cartridge World decided that it was a damaged cartridge and replaced it.

I have installed a replacement ink cartridge in my MP560 and it is saying ink tank is not recognised and refusing to print. What can I do? It seems like a bit of a con to force you to use Canon inks which...

hi,restart your printer with the printer replacement inside and wait for the error message to appear once error appear, press and hold the stop button untill the system re started.in this process the main ink detector will be reset and will recognized the new replacement cartridge

note:press and hold the stop button and never release the button until power restarted.

If you want to be able to save on your cartridge you can refill your empty cannon cartridge with ink
here a video on how to refill the cartridge.

I just refilled my black ink cartridge. But the ink is still not recognised. Every time I hit print it just shows that the ink can't be recognised. What shall I do?

If you refilled the cartridge, most likely the wafer chip on the ink cartridge is a self setting chip. What this means is once the ink runs out one time, the chip will either short or change a pattern to allow the cartridge to never work again (so you have to go out and buy their new ink) Some places sell a chip reset, or you can replace it will an OEM black ink.

If this all fails, than the print head (the carriage the ink sits in) is faulty

CANON PIXMA MP 198 . I WAS PRINTING THEN SUDDENLY IT JUST FLASHED ON MY MONITOR "INK CARTRIDGE CANNOT BE RECOGNIZED" I TRIED TO REPLACE THE CARTRIDGE SINCE THE COMPUTER TELLS THAT IT MAY BE NOT...

It could be you have used a refilled cartridge and the date or information inside the refill is now telling printer its not recognised.
The replacement one could be faulty (if refilled).
I have had a lot of problems with refills and now tend not to use them anymore.

I have been purchasing the less expensive ink cartridges (#30 and #31) for my pixma ip1600 and they have worked fine. I just put a #30 in my printer and it won't work. What happened?

Was the replacement cartridge Canon brand on a refill? Either way that style Canon printers are designed to not accept refiled printer cartridges for the 30s, 40s or 50s. It is likely that the printer deemed your cartridge not an un-used original and turned it into an inky paper weight. I would return the cartridge to where ever you purchased it and be sure to only purchase new Canon brand for that machine.

Canon MP510 wont recognise cartridges

Using replacement cartridges that come without a chip seems to be the problem I had with the Canon Pixma 510 printer they are cheaper
but if they do not show the ink levels then its inconvienent so I have but Canon products with a chip and they work perfectly.
