Not likely that it goes into sleep mode, more liekly to go into safety shutdown mode due to shorted cicuits, or bad DC in the power supply due to bad DC filter caps as you can see in y example of failed SAMSUNG TV's and Monitors.

the fe-190 is only detected by the computer as a USB mass storage device and only allows you to download images from it. It can not be used as an imaging device when connected to the computer.
