Make sure that you have it set up in the cmos. Thats the first thing you need to do to ensure that it can be read via windows. If its not recognized by the board, windows wont see it either. When the system starts up .. select F2 key to access the cmos. Under system it should provide you with a list of devices installed on your computer. If you do not see your sony drive listed, then you will need to add it. Scroll through the list and determine if it is a master or slave and if it is a primary or secondary device connection. If you have it set up on the same cable as your harddrive, you will need to set the jumper on the CDRW as a slave so that there is no conflict between the two. Did you install all the drivers for the drive into windows as well??? I hope this helps. If you require further assistance, please dont hesitate to ask.

So there you have it. Windows 7 is not yet supported by your video card.
Prolly will be soon.
I would bet that you can get the desired resolution if you were using XP.
SOURCE: what is optiplex gx 260 pc's default bios
I have worked on hundreds of Dell computers and they never set a bios password so there is no such thing as a default password.
The usual way of clearing the bios password is to open up the computer and do one of two things.
1. take out the small round battery on the mother board. Then power the computer up, wait 30 seconds. Turn the computer off and replace the battery. OR
2. look for a jumper on the mother board that says "clear bios" set the jumper, turn on the computer, wait 30 seconds, turn off the computer and then reset the jumper.
SOURCE: SATA Hard Drive Type The Dell Optiplex GX280 Takes?
Hi,
It makes no difference providing the computer motherboards support SATA interface.
SATA 1 and 2 drivers are in the BIOS. If all the computers have SATA 1 you can upgrade the BIOS to latest version via Dell's support website.
Regards.
Testimonial: "thanks, ill look into that. how do you update the bios? (i have never had to do it before) do you burn the update to a cd/floppy and boot from it? Cheers again!"
SOURCE: for save old bios and install new bios Dell
If you are looking to update your BIOS then you can obtain the latest version from Dell. There should also be a step by step guide on how to correctly perform the upgrade. However, unless there is a real need to upgrade your BIOS then you should not have to do this. I have worked on and custom built several PC's and have never had to update the BIOS.
