I have a 2000 chevy prism 1.8 trying to install a 99 corolla 1.8 engine. I got it in but wont start. the old engine had some type of sylinoid in the head with a electrical wire plug in, would this cause it not to start. help Please!

is not set by you ever, it he computer brains job(by EPA laws)
cold idle. is controlled by thermal direct air valves on older EFI.
the Prizm (with a Z) is a Toyota Corolla with sheep skins (GEO)
made same day in the same factory. same parts 99%
a better questions, is tell symptoms first and ask why they happen. 10x better. that.
Idle controls are one of many electronic servo's in the cars ECU/PCM brain, just 1, of many.
read the ASE books on EFI. this is covered there.

If the old solenoid had a bad short it may have put your new starter out of commission. Have the starter tested-it should still have warranty for repllacement.

on a Ford i would start with the sylinoid

On 5.7L engines, install the bolts and torque in sequence as follows:

1. Step 1: 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
2. Step 2: 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
3. Step 3: 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
