This is hard to put into words, but here goes: When I put a DVD inside the player, it appears that it is going to play the movie for me, but then it stops. The response I get is T16 or something like "this disc won't play". Sometimes the DVD actually starts to play (only the previews, not the actual movie) and I can see the picture on the TV, but then it stops. Once in a blue moon, I actually get to watch the movie and the ironic thing is that if I get to actually watch the movie, I never encounter any stopping or issues. So it's like a game where if I can get through the preview part of the DVD and on to watching the movie, I am Golden! Can anyone offer me any suggestions on how to fix this problem?? Thanks so much!
I have the same exact problem. I've tried to use a DVD cleaner but that hasn't been helpful, because the program would say to highlight the DVD cleaner option and press "enter." I'll do that and the program won't activate. It's getting pretty frustrating. Any suggestions.I have the same exact problem. Me three, same thing, reads 'no disc' or just won't play it. I have found that it happens more frequently on rental DVD's and that running a cleaner cd through several times helps but eventually that will even stop working. No idea what the problem is

Today with HD High Definition TV these kind of problems appears because the new dvd players have more video resolution options, so, for playing all variety of dvd, and home done dvs,s (like family movies on dvd) you need set up your resolution video on your DVD player at 480i or 480p option, not higher because some DVD movies (mainly oldies) have lower resolution than newer , for example new movies on HD format have 1080 P resolution, and if you have this option chosen in your DVD player you only can see this kind of videos, on the other hand if you have chosen 480i or 480 p on your dvd player , you can play all dvd formats including home movies made with any movie software, in this way you can play dvd-r and +r movies and of cours you can play HD movies also.So put some dvd where your dvd player works well (you need see the dvd menu in the tv screen), then press stop. Then press setup in your remote control, go to video resolution and choose 480 I or 480p, then press ok AND ENJOY THE MOVIE. Smart techniques

I had the same problem. Try this. Contact Sharp and have them email you the firmware update. You will need to download it from the email and transfer it to the player via a flash drive. See if that works. I am about to return my Sharp Blu Ray player to Costco and go back to DVD. There seem to be a lot of problems with the technology. Even when movies start to play, they have freezes and it is sometimes hard to get the menu to show up
Sorry to let you know, but the AVIC D1 does not play movie DVDs. It only has a DVD ROM drive that reads Data DVDs, in other words the navigation DVDs. You will have to add your own DVD Player or a Pioneer DVD Changer to be able to watch movies with the AVIC D1.
Try playing Different DVDs, Second Make sure which Region Disk your playing is it Region 1 or Region 2, If your DVD player is Manufactured in USA it plays only Region 1, If its manufactured in UK it plays only Region 2, If still you face same problem Use Lens Cleaner, If still you face same problem do Reset. To Reset Dvd player, Remove DVD from Dvd Player, Unplug Power chord from Walloulet for 15minutes so player goes to Defult Factor Settings, Then plug back again Power chord. Turn on Dvd player insert DVD, It should Play or else Claim Warranty.
Some pc DVD players will only play films from a certain region.
It could also be the video codecs? Search for the all codec packs on the net as sometimes a film wont play unless its got the right codec.
Also some companies dont like people to play films on their computer as they can be ripped to hard drive etc.
Three answers that could the the cause of your problems, sorry i coudlan't be more help :-(
