Error code: 2023 on tomtom navigator 6

This message usually mean that the map on your device is not "validated" for use. It happens when the navigation software is updated (e.g. automatically by the HOME / MyDrive Connect software) ... so, you'll have to (install and) validate the map again (using your map activation code).

You do not need the barcode or receipt to register and update a tomtom.
Connect to a PC and download 'my drive connect' from the tomtom website.
Register the device with you name and email address and follow on screen instructions to update.

If/when you've just purchased a (brand) new TomTom GPS, you can register it (at the TomTom.com website) and download the latest map (for your device) .... free ... as part of the latest map guarantee.
Whenever you connect your GPS to the TomTom website (via TomTom HOME), you'll get (free) updates to your current map version - ... but they are NOT new versions of the maps.
To get new versions of your (current) map, you'll need to purchase the update (e.g. online, on the TomTom website). Upon paying for it, you will get the activation codes, etc. for you to download, validate and install the maps.

For users with Smartphones, Pocket PCs etc using TomTom Navigator 6,7 or 8. Please do the following...

If you have installed the application TomTom Navigator to your SD/MMC Storage card as supposed to your device storage then you need to uninstall TomTom Navigator. This will not affect your maps etc. These stay on your stotage card. After you have unistalled TomTom Navigator. Reinstall it but this time when asked where you wish to install it select Device, do NOT install it to the storage card.

Once done lauch TomTom Navigator and follow the setup instructions. Enable Map Share if you you want to use it. When you are finished with configuring the setup close TomTom. Connect your device to your PC/Laptop and open TomTom Home. The error message should now be gone plus if you were not recieving map updates and map shares etc you will now.

The Error Code 646 can occur if the Windows Update Agent Wups2.dll file is registered incorrectly in the Operating System registry. So when you try to install a Windows Update, because the registry files that correspond to the Wups2.dll file are missing, the update installation fails.

Follow these steps to properly register the Windows Update files and resolve the issue:

1. Click the Start button, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Notepad.

2. In the Untitled - Notepad window, either copy and paste or manually type the following commands into the text field:

REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL /S
REGSVR32 WUCLTUX.DLL /S

3. On the menu bar, click File.

4. In the File menu, click Save As.

5. In the Save As window, in the File name field, type Register.bat.

6. In the Save as type field, click the down arrow and click to select All Files (*.*).

7. Click the Browse Folders button.

8. Browse to the Desktop folder, and then click the Save button.

9. In the Register.bat - Notepad window, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.

10. On the Desktop, right-click the Register.bat file, and then click "Run As Administrator".

NOTE: If prompted for an Administrator password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, type the appropriate password, click Continue or click Yes.

11. Once the Register.bat file has run, click the Start button, click All Programs, then click Windows Update and try to install updates again.

12. NOTE: If the updates still fail to install properly, it may be necessary update the version of the Windows Update Agent software installed on the Computer.

Follow the steps in Microsoft KB Article ID 949104 to download and install the latest version of the Windows Update Agent software.

I phoned tomtom help line, they sent me a download by email which i ran on the tomtom which wipes the flash memory clean. Then did a download of latest tomtom operating system form tomtom Home software. When i tried to setup wireless data connection i couldnt believe how quick and easy it done it and now works amazing fast to find traffic updates in secs !! They told me that if you have used the tomtom with a few phones and changed a lot of settings the flash memory gets full and thats what made it stuggle to connect and was slow. Im so pleased it was driving me mad !! Hope you resolve urs the same. The number is 08451610009 Darren.
