I have cox cable and using a Motorola SB5120 modem. I have lost internet connection. When trying to reset(unplugging power supply & repowering)the modem, The power light comes on then PC activity light comes on. Nothing else happens.

If the Cable light does not come on and/or the Activity light doesn't turn on, there is a problem with the plant equipment and you need to contact your provider to fix it. It could be a cabling issue outside of the residence or something could be down at the plant itself. This can also happen when the temperatures rise or if there is condensation inside the cable as it causes signal loss and increased noise on the line.

I too am experiencing problems with my Surfboard Motorola SB5120 modem. Problems started up a few weeks ago intermittently. I've had this modem for maybe 5 years so far. The online connection never kicks in. Charter cable says it's not on their end. I've tried all sorts of things to try to make the modem work again. I've one step from just cancelling my internet service at Charter.
